Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi my name is Aubrey! I'm a beautiful flashy brindle girl with a sweet spirit just waiting for my new family. I was a loved member of my old family, but their new jobs made it hard to spend time with me and train me as I was in my puppy years. I am now getting to know a whole new world, my foster mom has 2 other boxers twice my size teaching me how to be the best behaved little monkey. I would love nothing more than to sit by you (or in your lap if you'd let me) and keep you company. I have a very playful puppy side and love to chase balls and tug rope with my foster mom...I'm still working on playing rope with other dogs, sometimes the ... (Read More)growling noises startle me. But I am getting more confident every day! I've picked up on how to play chase in the yard with my fur brother and sister and have even started to try and 'box' with them! I am very treat motivated and listen well, I just need a little more training on best manners. I know how to sit, potty outside, go to my crate and sleep in my crate and play fetch...but I'm a smart girl and I think I could learn all kinds of tricks! My foster mom says I am a dainty 40ish lbs, just the perfect size for any size house. I did grow up with a skin brother, he was an infant and my mom said I was great with him, just sat by the crib and kept watch of my brother. I'm very sweet and gentle and I'm sure older children would love me as well :) Don't you want to meet this cute face in person? If you think I would be a good fit for your family please contact my foster mom! Boxer Kisses ~Aubrey See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2872 (Less)

Holy jowlies Batman!!! Beware when you meet Linus, he has 'soul sucking' eyes and you will instantly fall in love. He's such a sweetie, very laid back, and loves kids of all ages. He won over everyone at the shelter he was at with his sweet disposition. Linus is totally house trained, has excellent manners in the house, and doesn't jump on furniture or beds. He knows sit and shake but we are working on more! We will update his bio as we get to know him better. Linus will not be ready to meet families for a few weeks. He is very thin but we are working on fattening him up, which shouldn't take long because he has quite an appetite! See my ...     Hi there! I'm Shasta. I've had a rough start to my little life but things are looking up now. I've recently survived a bout of that nasty disease parvo. I'm in recovery for 30 days to make sure it's gone and that I don't get any other pup sick. I almost died and surely don't want any other pup to go through that. I'm looking and feeling good now. I'm trying to learn the basics on being a great indoor companion. I'm pretty good but at this age I can only hold it a couple of hours. If you can't let me go potty that often then I'm probably not the right pup for you at this point. I hate to be in a dirty crate until someone comes ... (Read More)home to let me out. I know there are a bunch of older pups to choose from. That's about it for now. Check back in the beginning of March. Barring any complications, I'll be ready! Tootaloo!     Hi Folks! My name is Vander and I am 2, but will be 3 in just a couple of months. I am a little guy, weighing around 50 lbs., but I am a HUGE lovebug! I am dog friendly; I love to play with other pups! My foster home has a big boxer boy and him and I like to mouth joust, wrestle and play with toys. I am also kid friendly and cat friendly. I think I'm just a friendly guy all around! I am a little unsure of myself in my new surroundings, I was a total outside dog and now I live inside, so it's a big change for me. I am not a huge fan of my crate, but my foster mom is working with me and I'm slowly realizing it's not a bad place after ... (Read More)all. I can be a little shy and timid when I first meet new people, but I'll warm up if you give me some love'|or a treat. I am gentle and submissive; I look to my foster family and their boxer to take my cues. I am house trained and love to be outside in the beautiful sunshine. My foster mom calls me a wiggle worm, because I like to wiggle my way into your lap or arms. Since I was an outside dog, I contracted heartworms and now I have to go through a treatment to get rid of those nasty things, but I'll show them! I have been neutered and got all my vaccinations so I'll be ready to meet you soon. Please keep me in mind and if you want to meet me I'll be ready in March.     I have been with my foster family about a week now. They think I am pretty awesome! My mom thinks I am pretty young'|probably between 10-15 months. I am a total love bug and super sweet. I have been great with the kids in my house. They are ages 2, 5, & 8. I have also been great with the dogs I have met. I met 2 dogs on my way to my foster home and made friends immediately. I have also been great with my fur brothers. I have loved playing with my foster brother Rex racing around in the back yard and I just chill with Charlie, a 10 year old Jack Russell. My mom thinks I am house trained. I had one accident in my first 5 seconds ... (Read More)in the house but not since. I do pretty well in a crate too. Sometimes I will cry in it if I can't see you or need to go outside but I settle down pretty quick. I have a great temperament too. I like to play but am not too rough and let others initiate play. I am just as happy sleeping on my comfy dog bed or my mom's kitchen mats that are super comfy too. She thinks I am silly. I am a pretty skinny boy and need to put on a good 5-10 lbs. I have a good appetite so it shouldn't be hard now that I am safe and have a place to rest, eat, and be loved. I just got neutered today and had to have a bump removed on my head. They aren't too worried about it but removed it so I can be even more handsome and so I don't bump it. I also have pretty itchy skin that they are trying to fix up. The doc is hoping that it is just from not having proper care and hopefully will be fixed up soon. There is a possibility I could be allergic to something but my mom says they are going to fix me up so I am ready to go regardless. My mom loves me and pretty much anyone who meets me thinks I am great. If you think you might want to meet me'|check back in a couple of weeks. My mom doesn't think I will be ready to meet anyone until the middle of February. Until then, I will be soaking in the love and recovering.     Hi, I'm Bockscar, and I'm a new puppy that will be looking for a new home. Right now I'm hanging with my foster parents and 3 fur siblings. I have a little eye problem that we are working on. I am also working on eating and sleeping so I can grow. Mom and dad said I have to wait a little while to actually meet the public until I have had my vaccinations. I can start meeting people about the first week of February, and go to a new home the first week of March. I will not be going to pet fairs until March. Mom will keep everyone updated. Boxer    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi my name is Hooper and this is my story.... Some good Samaritans saw that I was lost and alone and they gave me some shelter. My foster mom said that they posted my picture on Facebook and eventually my foster mom was tagged in the post to help save me. I was then picked up and taken to Dallas Animal Services to work out my stray hold in case my original owners were trying to find me. They never came for me but then my foster momma came to the shelter and evaluated me. She approached my kennel but I wasn't too interested in her as so many people had already neglected me that I didn't have much hope. Then in the yard she kept following me, ... (Read More)calling me, and once she got me she wiped my boogies and picked some bugs off of me. It was at that moment I knew she loved me. She then left the room and started talking to someone on this little black contraption. Next thing I knew she was putting a leash on me and putting me in her car!! I was so happy to leave that place. The people there were really nice but the other dogs were way too noisy and really needed to take a chill pill. Then we arrived at the new homestead. I have a super soft warm bed, food, water, friends, and I get tons of hugs and kisses every day! I have always been told that this is what Heaven would be like!! I was really sick the first couple of days with something mom called Kennel Cough. I got tons of meds, zero sleep, and lots of love and hugs! Now that I am healed and super happy I get to play with this new girl that looks likes me and throws some sweet boxer punches and some other small curly haired girl that mom calls her sweet poodle. I have gotten to get out of the house a couple of times and I get this cool contraption put on me called a harness, then we are off to the races! I get to see the entire neighborhood with all its sights, sounds, and wonders and now that I know I am not alone I really like going for walks! What a wonderful feeling that is!! I am learning how to be an inside dog. Mom says I have some training to do but I am super smart and will learn quickly. I start my heartworm treatment and rest on January 20th and then will be ready for adoption at the end of February. I already have a list of families waiting to meet me so if you contact my mom about me don't get too depressed if I am not available. She said I am a looker and very popular! Please make sure to microchip and give your pets heartworm preventative! See my complete bio at http://www.savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2864 (Less)

This baby was saved by some good Samaritans on New Years day. She was found laying out dying by the side of the road. They took her home and did all they could to save her. Bought puppy food, puppy replacement formula and had her wrapped up on top of a heating pad. She couldn't keep her temperature up. I'm honestly surprised she's alive to say the least. She's skin and bones and she's sooo tiny. She weighs maybe 5 lbs and something is wrong with her left shoulder. I don't know if it's dislocated from maybe being thrown out of a car or if it's a birth defect. She does not appear to be in any pain. Other than that she seems lively and she's ...     Yo! It's me. Deiter Von Wigglebutt. Yeah, my name's a little weird cuz Ma has a thing about odd names. But it made you look, right? Ha! And besides, Ma mostly calls me Deiter (like Skeeter, but with a D). Personally, I don't care what she hollers at me as long as the kibble keeps comin'. So... what can I tell you about myself? Hmm... As you can see, I'm a young, dark-brindle fella, and Ma says I'm super sweet. I love to give kisses, and even when we go out in the yard to do bidness, I like to hang around by her side. Ma says I'm about 10 months old, but that I'm really well behaved for my age. Well, duh, Ma. I'm cool like that. I've ... (Read More)already survived a lot, so I know when I've got it good - and I make sure my people know I appreciate it. My history is a little bit of a mystery to all of us, but one day I found myself roaming the streets trying to find some kibble. Can you imagine? A little dude like me out there hoofin' it on my own? Anyway, the animal-control people scooped me up and stuck me in the slammer. They were cool and all, but it was still the slammer. But as luck would have it, Legacy Boxer Rescue came to my rescue. They bailed me out of that place and brought me home to my foster Ma. And oh boy did I hit the jackpot! Ma has another LBR boxer puppy (who loves to play with me), and then there are the two homie dogs, Bax and Bogey. The four of us hang out together all day and play, play, play. It's a far cry from the slammer around here. As for my manners, Ma says I'm picking up stuff real fast. I almost never have an accident in the house, and I sleep all through the night in my crate without a peep (or a poo for that matter). I mostly just need a family to love me forever, and if you've got another fur kid for me to play with, that would be even better. So if you want to be my people, holler at Ma. (She's got my back.) Your dude in waiting, Deiter. See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2849 (Less)

Hi, my name is Captain Morgan, but you can call me Cappie. Thank you for stopping by my profile. I'm a brindle male boxer, and I'm about 7 years old. I have natural ears and a docked tail. I don't really know many commands, so my foster parents are working on the basics with me. I'm very dog friendly and I LOVE my fur sister and brother.     Adonis is the most beautiful boxer I've seen in rescue. He is well trained and knows how to sit, stay and lay down. He is house trained, house broken and wonderful with other dogs. He is very playful and goofy with squeaky toys. He needs socializing with people and the city environment. He is currently uncomfortable meeting new people. He needs additional training to overcome his fear, but he is well worth the effort. See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2841

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

'Hi there, my name is Pepper Ann. I am a sweet, wiggly girl. I get along with and am happy to meet everybody. I even tried to play with the neighbor's cat but he ran off...I wouldn't have hurt him though, I was just excited to see him. I previously lived with two smaller dogs and a little girl so if you have a family with kids and other dogs, I'll fit right in. Do you know what it means when dogs do the kidney bean? I would love to show mine off for you...it will make you smile. I'm also housebroken and really like my comfy bed(s) and my crate. I often will go lay down in my crate, even if I don't need to be in there...I guess it's ... (Read More)kind of my comfort zone, my safe place. But if there's a cozy bed or blanket somewhere, I'll nap there too. I'm not protective of my toys or food, if you want it, take it away and I'll be okay with that. Sometimes, my foster fur brother gets a little bratty (don't tell him I said that) and wants my bed or my toy or my crate...and I just let him have it. I don't want a confrontation, I'm a super sweetheart and I'll just turn and go the other way. I do like to play but I won't fight anybody for attention. Would you like some wiggles in your life? How about sweet doggie kisses and soulful brown eyes welcoming you home from work? Let the people at Legacy know if you're interested in finding out more about me, I would love to meet you!'     Hello my name is Harlow! I have been in foster care a couple months trying to get better. You see when my momma came to see me in the shelter I was very sick and skinny.     Good day! My name is Jaeger. My Foster family calls me Jaeger Bear because I love bear hugs and to be close to my family. My foster mom always tells me what a well behaved gentleman I am. I am so loving and laid back. I have a little fur sister, she think she is the queen of the house ..so I let her think that and we get along :) I have never been crate trained so I stay in the laundry room when my foster family is gone during the day or for long periods of time. When they are at home I like to be right with them, so I have chosen the living room rug as my favorite place to be. It has something to do with the fact that I don't like to ... I love to go on walks and car rides. Foster Mom puts me in the back with my 3 year old foster skin sister. We ride really well together. When the weather is warm, I like to pick a spot in the sun and relax while my foster sisters play. I'm really great with kids. Since I'm the only boy in my foster home, I get to play dress up and get my nails painted, ALOT! If you're looking for a low key, cuddly, wise gentleman, I'm your man. The neighbor cat likes to rub against me and I just sit real still and let him. I mean, I do love attention and I'll take it where I can get it. I am an average sized boxer boy, not exactly tall or short'|but just right! I am house broken and even know sit, shake and lay down. I'm very food motivated so I would probably learn something new pretty easily. My foster home is in an apartment and I'm a good boy; I rarely bark. I always go in my crate for a treat but I can be trusted to be left out on my own. I get into the toy basket but that's about it. Speaking of toys, even though I'm not exactly a puppy, I still like to play. I have enough energy for some tug of war with you or I like to just sling my squeaky toys around sometimes by myself. If you prefer to read a book or watch tv I will gladly take a nap on my bed or lay beside you. I'm used to staying off the furniture but I would not hesitate to hang out on the couch with you if that's what you like. Or if you need to run an errand, I can tag a long'|I love to go for a ride and I'm a good boy in the car. I'm easy going like that. Like everyone else, human and animal alike, I have a past and some physical scars that go with it. Other than not being a really good jumper (which has nothing to do with my health), I like to wrestle and play just like any other dog. Are you interested in knowing more about me? If you need a laid back sidekick in your life or if you have an empty space in your heart that needs filled, I would love to meet you. Please let the good people at Legacy know so we can set up a meeting; I look forward to it! See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2747 (Less)

Hi my name is Maci Ray, but I respond to just Maci as well. I am ready to start meeting potential families that are interested in getting to know me. I need a family that is active because I am a ball of energy. I can calm down quickly and I know lots of commands. I love treats and am food/treat motivated to learn new things as well. I am house and crate trained as I am a lady and keep my living quarters clean! I am super bouncy when it comes to seeing a squirrel or cat and can clear a 6ft fence, so I must be ... (Read More)watched otherwise... there I go trying to have fun. I am not going to be able to be taken to a dog park as I am selective about who my fur friends are.     Hi my name is Gavin. I'm a white male boxer with natural ears, neutered and a docked tail with a wiggly butt. I'm not deaf, I hear you loud and clear. I love to play rough house with my foster parents two other boxers. I especially love playing with my LBR brother. I'm currently healing from surgery for getting fixed and had a tumor removed from one of my paws. Things are going well and I'm recovering great. I'm crate trained and don't mind my crate (especially when you give me treats). I know how to sit and I'm working on other commands. I know how to walk on the leash and like going outside. I am grateful to the my foster family who help ... (Read More)rescue me and know I will be the boxer you are looking for. From the foster parents: Gavin is a really sweet boxer.     'Hi! I'm such a sweet sugar-face they named me Candy. I was brought to a shelter after living in the back yard all my life ( 6- 8 yrs). My ''family'' was going to have me put down. I was so covered in ticks they couldn't tell if I had any other lumps/bumps or not. Well I am clean and tick-free now. There were so many blood-sucking ticks, it left me anemic, so I had to get my health back, have a benign tumor removed and undergo Heartworm treatment .Now, I'm all better and I can go home with you.My Fom ( Foster Mom ) is AMAZED at how much energy I have now, compared to when she 1st got me. When you talk to me and love on me, my little nubbin ... (Read More)moves the fastest you've ever seen. I like to rest on the couch with you and snuggle. If you let me, I'll sleep in the bed with you.I can even jump up there myself now ! I'm not food- or toy-aggressive and I like everybody. Plus, I'm not jumpy, it's too hard for us older girls. Now that I am healthier, my Fom will help me lose a few pounds. I have a Fob ( Foster Brother) and we get along very well. I am very good about getting in my crate. Sometimes, when I see Fom putting on her work uniform, I just go ahead and put myself in the crate. I don't make much noise, so you have to ask me if I want out. Otherwise, I might just find a nice spot indoors to go, but I am learning that is not really people's favorite. ( I have never had an accident in my crate.) For a sweet ol' gal that never lived indoors till now, I've done great. If you feel you would be a perfect match for me, please contact your Adoption Counselor.'     Hey guys, My name is Victoria and I love nothing more than to please and play. I'm around 2 years old and man does my foster mom think I'm still a young playful pup. I like going for runs in the morning and walks in the evening with my foster mom. She says I do great on a leash and man do I get excited when I see the leash being grabbed. I get along great with my fur sister, who is 7 months, we are play, play, play non stop. I understand I have to share the bone with her without aggression but I do like to hide it and make it a game. I also believe I'm a giant lap dog so my host mommy is always sharing her lap with me if I'm not playing. ... (Read More) That big wire thing, well I'm learning.. It's not my favorite to go into however if your bribe me and offer me a little help, I don't cry or bark. Especially if you cover me up with a blanket but still allow me to see my fur sister. So far I haven't had any accidents in mummy's house, so she is thrilled. I'm as sweet as can be to any human I meet, I haven't met one I have had a problem with yet, sometimes I'm a little timid but can you blame me, some people are scary. My mommy says she is gonna have a hard time letting me go but she can't wait to find me my perfect family, especially if they have another dog because I love to play. Mommy said she will write more when she knows more, until then, I'm off to play for awhile and then cuddle. See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2697 (Less)

Hello. I am Hampton. According to the dictionary, 'Hampton' means 'home settlement.' I think that's interesting, since I am looking for a home to settle in. I am about 6 years old. I am house trained. I love kids! I am trustworthy in the house all by myself. ( I really don't care much for the crate, so I behave.) I don't even get on your furniture. I'm just an all around great guy. My foster mom says I am a love-bug and an all around sweet guy. **blush**. She is deserving of such respect and treatment. I would love a chance to meet a new family that could love me for life. You should know that in my pre-Legacy days, I did not ... Since I arrived into Legacy's care, I have also had a number of bumps removed, and that's not uncommon for many boxers. However, I do understand that there is always a risk they will return. Legacy will provide all the information that they have on my medical care, history and treatment. I understand that Legacy has given me the very special title of 'Silver Boxer' which I display proudly on my bio page. Here is the link for the benefits that come with that designation. http://www.savetheboxers.com/silver.phpI should be ready to meet potential families sometime in late July. Please let my mom know if you would like to meet me. I would love to be picked by a family, especially if you have kids. (Read More)Kidney bean like crazy when I am excited and when my people come home. I love, love, love to play with toys and I like to carry them all over the house. I play with one toy, then another, and another. He calls me a serial toy player. I have some physical challenges that were caused by what we suspect was a car accident. However, my foster Dad says there is no way to know that for sure since no one saw my accident happen. You see, I had x-rays, whatever those things are and they showed I had 3 breaks in my hip area. I have somewhat limited use of my back right leg. I am getting stronger every day and have regained about 80% of the muscle mass in my back right leg. I am pretty sure that is due to love, good food, rest, and a ton of play with The Boxer Gang. My Foster Brothers Sky and John love to play with me. Of course I don't let my hip challenge slow me down. However, due to my back hip/leg stairs are very dangerous to me and I need to go to a home with out stairs. I love to play with my foster brothers and sister and chase them all over the house and yard pretty much every chance I get. I love people and I love snuggling with my Boxer foster brothers and sister. I love to sleep next to my people in bed and I settle down quickly and don't move until my people get up in the morning. I do love to sleep or rest on my back with all four paws facing the ceiling. My foster Dad says that I am silly. ;-) I may give a few kisses before I settle down to sleep, what, I like kisses. ;-) My Foster Dad tells me I mind very well and listen very well if he asks me to stop doing something. I know sit and I am learning some other commands. I am house trained and I will let you know that I need to go out by ringing the poochie bells or hitting my paw against the back door. If that doesn't work, I will sometimes go look for you. Also, I am crate trained and I settle down very quickly after I go into the crate. I am usually sitting nicely when my foster Dad comes home to let me out. That is all for now, I hope to meet you soon.     Hi everyone! Meet Legacy foster Ms. Mulligan! When Mulligan first arrived into foster care it was evident she hadn't lived a very good life. She was under weight, scared and had no 'Boxer spirit'. It took a few weeks, but after some regular meals and lots of loving Ms. Mulligan is discovering what the good life is about! This little girl is a prime example of why Legacy does what it does! As Ms. Mulligan continues to come out of her shell her Boxer spirit has begun to return! In fact, we are learning that she's a whole lot of sweet and a whole lot of sassy! In fact, she has earned the nickname 'Ms. Sassy Pants'! Ms. Mulligan loves her daily ... (Read More)walks and does great on a leash! While she's cruising the neighborhood she likes everyone to know she's out and about! Who knew such a loud bark could come from such a little thing! She's also the sweetest little girl that loves nothing more than to be curled up in your lap or next to you on the couch. Each time you walk into the room she'll greet you with the fastest moving Boxer nub you have ever seen! In fact she gets so excited the back half of her body just wiggles and wiggles! Have you even seen what's often referred to as the Boxer Kidney Bean? Well, you haven't seen a kidney bean until you see Ms. Sassy Pants do it! Mulligan is cat friendly and kid friendly but is somewhat selective about her dog friends. Because of this she would prefer to be an only dog. She's crate trained and almost house trained. We're still having a few accidents in the house but that's ok because she's still learning! Ms. Mulligan is looking for her fur-ever home. Her fur-ever family needs to know she's had a bit of a rough life and will need a little love and patience. The positive side to this is she is the sweetest little girl and has a lot of love to give in return! Could this be the girl for you? How can you resist that face?     Hello my name is Jax. I'm a 4 year old white male that weighs in at 69 lbs. I am not deaf and can hear everything I choose to acknowledge. I do know a couple of commands but need further training to help me broaden my horizons. I am crate and house trained but I usually roam around the house with my two boxer foster sisters. I sleep on a dog bed in the bedroom at night. I'm good with the female dogs but I tend to show the other male dogs that I'm bigger than they are and my foster family currently keeps me separated from them. I get to eat alongside the girls when I'm eating and I really don't mind if they play with my toys, even when I'm ... (Read More)playing with them. I'm a little leery of meeting new people and will bark at them when they first come in the room but I'm very friendly and loving once I've gotten to know them. I'm never aggressive with people just fearful at first. Once I know you I'm a big, lovable boxer boy that likes to lay my head in your lap and get his ears rubbed. I had a problem with my skin and had a little hair loss that may or may not grow back but I'm ok now. If you think you might be the perfect match for me give me a call and we'll get together. Animal ID: 13692Oslo (male)

Boxer    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

My name is Oslo, just like the capitol of Norway. I am white as the snow on the mountains (except for a little brown forehead patch that is fading into white as I mature). I'm not anywhere near as old as a glacier though. I have a warm personality and have my moments of silliness. I'm a pretty mellow guy overall and napping, eating and snuggling are my favorite activities. I trot around the yard and even slow gallop and my foster mom says it is lovely to watch. I like to roll in the grass, get a little sun while watching my foster mom sit in a lawn chair, and just be with my humans in general. I am a tad hard of hearing (from age) but ... (Read More)I know my name and my nickname 'Little Old Man.' I'm ok with calm dogs and don't take kindly to crazy, wild puppies. I'm crate trained and do woo woo/yodel for a bit, but then I settle down. My most interesting feature is my one handsome eye - I lost the other eye (I wasn't able to tell my foster mom how it happened). It doesn't bother me at all, though I prefer being greeted from my seeing side. I'm best around kids older than 12 who will respect my age and love me. I'm good on the leash and I like my harness. I'd like to meet you and see if there is a spark - Love, Oslo See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available3.php?dogID=2499 (Less)

Animal ID: 13649Mattie (female)

Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

'Mattie was very severely abused in her life before coming to LBR. She was apparently used as a bait dog to help train Pit Bulls to fight before her LBR save. She has been with us for 8 months now and has come a long ways however I am not sure that she will ever put her past life totally behind her. According to the veterinarian she is between 3 and 4 years old. When we first picked her up she tested positive for heart worms. She had over 250 to 300 open puncture wounds on her and had 5 open tears in her skin which were severely infected and were old enough wounds that the vet said they could not be sewn up and would have to heal on ... (Read More)their own. Many of them were inflamed and oozing. The vet cleaned them up and treated them. They did heal but they left some pretty large scars. She has been with us for 8 months now and still has over 100 visible scars on her front legs, shoulders and head. The cartilage and joint in the elbow on her left front leg was pretty severely damaged by dogs chewing on it when she was used for a bait dog. She has arthritis in that elbow and the Veterinarian recommends that she be on a lifelong daily regimen of Fish Oil and Glucosamine & Chondroitin. He says that should help somewhat, however he says the damage is severe enough that it will cause her bigger problems as she becomes older. It doesn't currently appear to bother her when she is walking around, however when she first wakes in the morning or from a long nap she tends to limp for a few minutes on that leg. According to the vet walks would not be bad for Mattie at this point, however long runs should be avoided due to the joint damage in that elbow. One of her canines was broken off about 1/8 inch from the gums and the other three had been filed smooth at the gum line. By mid-January the three canines which were filed off had become infected and she had to go in and have them extracted. Due to the infection in the lower left canine the tooth in front of it had to be extracted as well. The lower right canine is the one which is broken off. It was not infected so the decision was made not to remove it at this time however the vet said we needed to watch it closely because there is a very strong probability that it will eventually have to be removed. Mattie randomly has Idiopathic Head Tremors. The Vet has no explanation however he thinks there may be some neurological problem which could possibly have been caused by the puncture wounds and dog fights she endured. Sometimes a week will go by without any issues and other times she will have two or three episodes a day. We are pretty sure that she was some ones pet which was either lost or stolen because she wouldn't get on any furniture and was pretty much house trained when we got her. After about 2 months she started getting on the sofa in our den but I don't think she would do it even now if it weren't for Dexter and Gus getting up there. She is house trained and will go to the door when she needs to go out but she doesn't make any noise at the door. Even now the problem is she doesn't go to the door until she really has to go and if you aren't constantly watching and you don't let her out immediately she will go right by the door. Mattie will not go out into the yard to pee or poo or the ground is wet. Doesn't matter if it is raining or if the lawn is just wet from the sprinklers or even a heavy frost, she will go to the bathroom on the deck under the patio cover. You have to watch when she goes out because she loves to dig in the yard. She hates cats and immediately goes on the attack if a cat is present. It only took her a couple of weeks to realize that our two boxer boys had no intention of hurting her and the three of them decided it was OK to peacefully coexist. It was almost four months before she started playing with them and it took her 5 months before she picked up her first toy. After almost 5 months she has finally become best buds with Gus and Dexter. I have taken her to pet fair several times however she is not comfortable in the Pet Fair environment. She growls and doesn't want any of the other dogs getting too near to her. She is afraid of the dogs as well as new people. She is much more accepting of meeting new people but she initially trembles and leans up to me or hides behind me for about the first 15 or 20 minutes when someone new comes up. She is easily startled by loud noises. She will run and hide behind furniture or in her crate if you yell at her or there are sudden loud noises. She walks very well on a leash but if someone walks toward us she will cower next to or behind me or will run away from them until she hits the end of the leash. She is becoming more trusting but is a long and slow process. See my complete bio at http://www.savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2484 (Less)

Hi. I'm Tara. Thanks for reading about me. I may be a little older then some of the other kids at LBR that you may read about, but I still have so much energy and love to give. I have learned that squirrels can run really fast when I chase them, and birds are pretty fast too! I am around 7 years old and have a little grey in my face, but don't let that fool you. I like to play with some toys and I love to chew! I will spend hours sitting next to you and contently chew on my bone. I like other dogs but I am self assured and will stand up for myself if I need to. I don't have the energy of some of those youngsters, so I don't think I ... I really want to be with you, to be rubbed, and be part of your family. I'm also very gentle with kids. I finally finished my treatment for something my foster mom called heartworms. But now I feel great and I'm ready to find my new home. If you have some room in your heart and home for an older, sweet, gentle girl with a bunch of love left to give, please ask to meet me!     Hey there! My name is Cleverley! I am the wiggliest little girl you will ever meet! I have a lot of fun at myfoster home. There are two big boxer boys and a smaller boxer girl here that I love to play with and the dog beds are great too! While I love my friends here, I do need time to get to know new doggy friends when I first meet them. My foster parents have introduced me to everybody with a crate introduction, and after not too long, I am good to go! I weigh in at 56 pounds. I am amazing in my crate, I go right in with no protests and just curl up for a nap. I am great in the car and walk well on a leash. My favorite thing is to give ... (Read More)kisses. I also love to be petted and curling up next to my foster mom on the couch. I had to get healthy the first couple of months I was with my foster family; I had to get spayed, have a couple of lumps removed, and have heart worm treatment. All that is behind me now and I am as good as new! I am also so ready for what my foster mom calls my 'furever' home. She told me about it, and it sounds amazing! I can't wait to have a family to call my own and be loved forever. If I sound like your kind of girl, let my foster mom know, I hope to meet you soon! Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

'Hi there! My foster mama named me Petunia, because I'm a pretty little girl...just like a flower! I am just a tiny little girl at 40ish lbs, which makes me the perfect size to fit in your lap! Which is my preferred place to be. I came to my foster home in May 2013. I just love my fur siblings so much, including my kitty sister, that I haven't wanted to leave. My foster parents don't think I've ever lived inside before, so I am soaking up the good life of laying on the couch snuggling with my foster mom. I had worms living in my heart when I first arrived, but we quickly had them evicted. I sleep in my crate during the day when my ... (Read More)foster parents are working. I use to hate my crate, but I'm not scared anymore because my foster sisters and brother are right next to me. I am house trained, but still have the occasional 'accident' in the house. I walk pretty well on a leash if I have my harness on, but if a doggie gets to close or a bunny runs by, I will pull. I do know 'sit', but don't always do it. My foster mom says I can be stubborn. But I just flash my sad puppy dogs eyes at her, give her sweet kisses and she forgets all about that 'stubborn' stuff. I still need some work on that training stuff mom is always talking about. When I first arrived here I didn't know what to think of my kitty sister, so I would just sit and stare at her forever!!!! But now we are friends and love to chase each other around the house. I also didn't know anything about toys or how to play. My foster brother tried and tried for months to play with me and I just sat and looked at him like he had three heads! Not anymore, now I LOVE to wrestle with him. I particularly enjoy biting his ankles!!! I also like to play tug-o-war on occasion or will play with a squeaky toy. We also have deer antlers to chew on! I really LOVE those as well!!! I am somewhat dog selective and need slow intros with other dogs. I tend to be a little reactive and do not like dogs I don't know being all crazy and in my face. I do better with non-reactive submissive dogs. Even though I need time to warm up to dogs, I really need to have a fur brother to be with and play with as I don't like to be alone. So my new family will need to understand that I need slow intros with other dogs and need to watch me closely to make sure I continue to behave. My new family will also need to be patient with me in the beginning as I'm not a big fan of change/new things. Oh and I am kid friendly. I especially love the little ones, they are the perfect height for giving kisses. I am really the sweetest little girl. So, if you're looking for a sweet lap dog to play with your submissive male and give you lots of kisses and don't mind snoring, then I'm your girl! But, If you're looking for a dog park dog, an only dog, a dog to take everywhere with you or have lots of playdates, please check out the other fabulous fosters on the available page. Let my foster mom know if you would like to know more about me, or would like to meet me. Lots of boxer nub wiggles and kisses! I'm a happy go-with-the-flow kind a guy though, so I'm perfectly content to be just about anywhere as long as I have people who love me. I'm a good guard dog and take my responsibility very seriously, I always make sure you know when someone is at the door and when the mailman comes to drop off any goodies for you. I love to play with toys and fetch like a champ, so if you have some older kiddos I'd love to romp around the backyard with them. I'm about 7 years young, so I know how to potty outside, stay in my crate while you're gone, and I will even sit and shake for a treat! I know, I know... I'm a pretty fun guy!
