'Hi! My name is Kaila, and I'm the perfect little girl for your family. My foster mom calls me Kai Kai because I'm so spunky and cute! I'm only 40 pounds - a boxer LITE version! I was abandoned by my first family because of their travel schedule. I have previously snipped at new fur friends when being introduced or cornered on a leash as German Shepherds crossed my old fence and attacked me frequently, but my foster mom thinks I just need the right parents and fur siblings to teach me how to be a trusting boxer girl...I'm already doing so much better! I am house trained and crate trained and have never been destructive with any of my ... (Read More)foster mom's things when left alone to roam free. I know basic commands, like to play with toys, play with both male and female dogs and love to chase squirrels. I am wonderful with children and the perfect size to play with all ages. I really just want some love and attention, I'm a good girl and deserve to be someone's princess my mom says J Could you be my forever family? I can't wait to wiggle my way into your heart!     'Hi, I'm Duchess, a 1 year old fawn female boxer born on January 20, 2013. I came into rescue very pregnant when my owners moved into a new home where pets weren't allowed. I quickly settled into foster care, where I was pampered like a true princess should be! I delivered a litter of gorgeous purebred pups, all of whom were quickly adopted. Foster mom says I was the best lil momma! But now it's time for me to find my forever home! I absolutely love the company of other canines. I was surrendered with my mate, a male boxer, and I've never learned to adjust to life without another dog. For that reason, my forever home must have a canine ... (Read More)companion for me to cuddle and play with. I also enjoy the company of cats. When it comes to humans, I've never met a stranger! I love kids of all ages. Foster dad tells me I'm super smart! I know basic commands and am always learning more. I'm house trained and crate trained. I do not need to be crated when my humans are away for short periods of time. I walk well on a leash, and enjoy long walks for exercise. My favorite things include: water, boxer burns in the yard with my furry foster friends, car rides, water, snuggles on the couch, chewing on elk antlers, water, cozy dog beds...and I think I forgot something...oh, yes...WATER! I love water more than any boxer foster mom and dad know! They keep a special pool for me in the yard. I'm only allowed in it at certain times; otherwise I'd take a dip every time I went out for a potty break! I prefer to sleep on a comfy chair or dog bed in the same room with my humans. I'm a pretty calm, well-behaved girl, but I do love play time too! I am a petite girl, weighing in at about 46 lbs. I am spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. I'm also on heart worm and flea prevention. I can't wait to meet my forever family...is it you?' (Less)

Hi my name is Waz (Mike Wazowski) I am a fawn with black mask male. I love other dogs and would love to have someone I can play with. I don't mind following someone else's lead, I just want everyone to get along! I have a cat at my foster home, I have lived with cats my whole life so I don't mind them. I also have kids at my foster home and they make ALOT of noise, but it's ok! My favorite part of the day is when mom gets home from work, I get so excited my whole body wags! I am house and crate trained and I know several commands like sit, down and shake. I am learning what toys are and so far I really like them especially the ones ...     'Hi, thanks for clicking on my picture. I'm pretty handsome, right? If you haven't seen a reverse brindle before, that's me! I'm basically a flashy black with a small drip of brown on my back ankle. My coat is soft and super shiny. Here's a little more info about me. I was surrendered to the shelter just recently and that was awful for me. Luckily, I didn't have to be there long before an LBR volunteer came and got me to safety. My foster mom and dad say that I'm a really good boy. I know sit, down, come and I heel well on a leash. I'm learning new skills too and fast since I'm super smart! I love to be outside, I ride awesome in ... (Read More)the car, I'm super people friendly and I'm house-trained. My foster mom says I'm sweet, gentle, give nice kisses and I like to be with my people. And, I do not have any known medical issues like heartworms, whew! Some things to keep in mind if you are interested in meeting me: I'm a 4 year old puppy that will be around 70lbs once I gain some weight. I need a home that will dedicate time to training, attention and discipline. I am not too familiar with toys or play yet but I think I'll like both. I'm taking it slow to settle in - my foster mom said with time and learned confidence she knows I'll find my boxer spirit. I'm not sure about other dogs yet. I wasn't socialized properly my first four years so we are working on meeting new dogs. Hopefully with training (I've already been to my first class!) and exposure I'll find it's easy and fun to be social. The newest thing for me has been the crate. I think it's strange to be in a smaller space but my foster mom and dad say it is necessary for now; keeps me safe when they have to be gone. So, we have been playing some fun games with treats to get me to like it more. In just a few days, I'm doing much better but will need to continue practicing. My foster mom works from home so my time in it is limited and I'd like to find a home where I don't have to crate all day. Thanks for reading about me! Hope to meet you soon!     'Hello!! My name is Odis!! I came to LBR because my owner surrendered me to a shelter. I didn't like that I was left outside all the time, so I would get out and wait for my owner in the street until they got home. I just couldn't wait to see them!!! However I absolutely LOVE my new foster home! I am kept in a crate during the day and sometimes I get a potty break at lunch. I am great in my crate! The temp is regulated, I have toys to chew on, and I am safe from the scary world around me. When my foster family gets home I am so excited to see them. I cant stop wiggling my butt!! They are so much fun and treat me so good!!! I also LOVE to ... (Read More)play with my new foster sister! We run and play for hours! My foster mom said I am super smart. I listen very well and only want to make her happy for giving me such a great place to stay until I find my forever home! My ideal home will have another playmate for me, someone who wants to keep training me since I am so smart and I know I can learn to do some really cool things if someone just takes some time with me (maybe even a Youtube sensation!), and someone who loves to cuddle! I am a such a cuddle bug!! If you want to set up a meet and greet let me know, my mom says I won't be here very long because I am so awesome and then she just starts crying.... It's kind of funny... hahaha!! I am Odis' foster mom and the reason I put 10 and older is that he can get territorial with his toys and or any bones. That is the only time I have seen him get that way. I am worried that if a child took away his toy he might not know how to handle himself. My foster Mom has left me out while she's at work and the only thing I got into was the toy basket. I am very well behaved in her apartment too. I'm a pretty calm guy.     'Hi there! I am so excited that you are stopping by my page and know you are going to be impressed with my sweet little self! I'll start out by telling you that I will need to stay with my foster family for a while. The vet told my foster mom that I have a skin infection and a mild case of Demodex mange. That's okay, because I am taking medicine and really hope to be all better before you know it. I don't go back to the vet for a follow up until late October, so I won't be available for adoption before then. In the meantime, it hasn't slowed me down and I am having fun playing with the fur kids at my foster home. I really like to play & ... (Read More)play & play some more. I have so much energy that it is a good thing there are two fur playmates here. I can wear one out and still have another one to play with....we have so much fun!!! I love to be outside and do Boxer burns in the big backyard and play chase with the fur kids here. I can even run faster than them, so I usually win the race!! There are lots of toys here, but I would rather play with the fur kids, or help them chase after the laser light. I have gotten along with all the doggies I have met and am nothing but wiggles whenever I see a new playmate. I am also very happy when I meet new people and with all this enthusiasm, I could accidentally knock over a toddler. I just can't control my wiggle waggle when I am so excited!! I was afraid in the beginning, but learned to use the doggie door after a few days and now it is hard to keep me inside. I also haven't had any pottie accidents lately and this makes my foster mom & dad very happy. Being outside and exploring the backyard is so much fun and also one of my favorite places to be! I don't like when I have to come inside, but my foster mom & dad don't want me to get sunburned. I know how to sit and understand what ''no'' means, but don't always listen. I am learning other things like off, down, shake, leave it and how to walk on a leash. I hate being confined, or restrained, so me and that leash aren't friends yet. I really like when foster mom gets excited and I get these yummy treats for doing what she asks. I will go in the crate to get a treat, but I just don't like being confined to such a small area. I have never chewed on anything I shouldn't, but I am a hungry, growing young lady. I always finish eating before everyone else and will help you finish whatever is on your plate, or in your bowl. You must not like it as much as me since it is taking you so long to eat! At night, I sometimes cuddle up next to one of the fur kids on their doggie bed, but I have another spot that I like even better. My foster mom and dad let me sleep in their bed and I get to snuggle up really, really close! This is my very favorite place to sleep!! My foster family thinks I will do best in a home with a yard, another doggie companion and no more than 4 continuous hours of crate time. I don't spend more than an hour or two in the crate at my foster home, as someone is almost always home. Once I am older and have learned all the rules, then it might be okay to leave me uncrated. Please reach out to your adoption counselor if you are interested in meeting me. Please also remember that we are currently not sure when I will be released, but hope to have a better understanding of the timeline when we follow up with the vet in late October. My foster mom & dad tell me that I am a very good girl and that I deserve the very best family of my own. They will be sad when it is time for me to leave, but many pictures and updates will be required from my new family. Thanks Again! Love Wrigley!     Hi all! I'm Maci Ray, I am still warming up and getting used to my new foster home. So far I'm not too sure on doggy friends, good with kids over 10, not sure on the toddler size ones, and unsure about those furry things I see in my foster moms bushes. I am house and crate trained, know several commands when I want to listen, I can be stubborn sometimes! I am a huge snuggler but only weigh 41lbs and can use a couple more. I am waiting to get spayed and have a lump removed, so check back in a couple of weeks if you are ready to meet me. See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2731

I have been with my family about 3 weeks. I am learning a lot and teaching them about me. I am a such a handsome loving boy. I am on the smaller side about 45 lbs. I have gotten along great so far with every person and dog that I have met. I am pretty chill during the day and like to lounge around the house. I have great indoor manners. When I go outside it's party time, even if just by myself. I do great entertaining myself running around the yard and playing with toys. I am not much of a barker and am happy just hanging out. I have a 10 year old fur brother and a 2 year old fur sister I have been great with them. I also have ... (Read More)an 8 year old boy and a 20 month old boy who love to play with me. I let the little one climb all over me. My 5 year old girl is sweet but is more reserved with me and I just respect her and give her space if she wants. I am house trained and have never had an accident. I came here not knowing any commands but am a very quick learner. I am pretty good on a leash and have done great meeting dogs on leashes too. No grumbling from me. I even let my little furry brother climb all over me. My mom loves me and thinks I am perfect. She will have a hard time letting me go but says the perfect family is out there for me. I look forward to meeting you! See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2728 (Less)

Hi there! My name is Beckerman--I'm named after a pro soccer player! When LBR found me in the shelter, I was super injured. They think I was hit by a car. After weeks of nursing and intensive care, I now feel so much better! My foster mom says I may have a permanent head tilt and have mild hearing loss on my right side. But that's ok because I don't know there's anything wrong with me and foster mom says it gives me personality! I am extremely obedient and calm. I'm great on a leash and I love other dogs.     Hi, I'm Tarawa, but mom calls me Tara for short. I'm just a baby, so there isn't much to tell about me yet, but here goes I have beautiful blue eyes and the most amazing thing called a tail!! Momma said it really is pretty, and just fits my personality. Whatever that is. I have a pure white coat and love to play with my bigger fur siblings. I try not to scare them with my jumps and growls, but sometimes momma has to remind me that I have to be gentle with them. They are old after all. Momma said there is a creature out there called a cat, but I don't know what they are. Momma said I should be fine with one, since I am still a baby ... (Read More)and can learn they are not toys.     'Hi! I'm such a sweet sugar-face they named me Candy. I was brought to a shelter after living in the back yard all my life ( 6- 8 yrs). My ''family'' was going to have me put down. I was so covered in ticks they couldn't tell if I had any other lumps/bumps or not. Well I am clean and tick-free now. There were so many blood-sucking ticks, it left me anemic, so I had to get my health back, have a benign tumor removed and undergo Heartworm treatment .Now, I'm all better and I can go home with you.My Fom ( Foster Mom ) is AMAZED at how much energy I have now, compared to when she 1st got me. If you let me, I'll sleep in the bed with you.I can even jump up there myself now ! I'm not food- or toy-aggressive and I like everybody. Plus, I'm not jumpy, it's too hard for us older girls. Now that I am healthier, my Fom will help me lose a few pounds. I have a Fob ( Foster Brother) and we get along very well. I am very good about getting in my crate. Sometimes, when I see Fom putting on her work uniform, I just go ahead and put myself in the crate. I don't make much noise, so you have to ask me if I want out. Otherwise, I might just find a nice spot indoors to go, but I am learning that is not really people's favorite. ( I have never had an accident in my crate.)     Hey guys, My name is Victoria and I love nothing more than to please and play. I'm around 2 years old and man does my foster mom think I'm still a young playful pup. I like going for runs in the morning and walks in the evening with my foster mom. She says I do great on a leash and man do I get excited when I see the leash being grabbed. I get along great with my fur sister, who is 7 months, we are play, play, play non stop. I understand I have to share the bone with her without aggression but I do like to hide it and make it a game. I also believe I'm a giant lap dog so my host mommy is always sharing her lap with me if I'm not playing. ... (Read More) That big wire thing, well I'm learning.. It's not my favorite to go into however if your bribe me and offer me a little help, I don't cry or bark. Especially if you cover me up with a blanket but still allow me to see my fur sister. So far I haven't had any accidents in mummy's house, so she is thrilled. I'm as sweet as can be to any human I meet, I haven't met one I have had a problem with yet, sometimes I'm a little timid but can you blame me, some people are scary. My mommy says she is gonna have a hard time letting me go but she can't wait to find me my perfect family, especially if they have another dog because I love to play. Mommy said she will write more when she knows more, until then, I'm off to play for awhile and then cuddle. See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2697 (Less)

Animal ID: 14301Kenzy (female)

Boxer    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

'Hello everyone! I'd like to introduce you to Kenzy. Kenzy is a sweet, young boxer that is getting used to the good life! When Kenzy came into LBR's care, she was in pretty bad shape. She had had complications after giving birth to a litter of puppies and needed immediate surgery to fix the problem and prevent her from having further litters. Kenzy had never been inside a house before coming to us. She had lived outside all her life. Watching her adjust to being inside has been such a joy. She is so curious about every little thing, because it is all so new to her. Because she had never been inside, she had no idea of what it meant to be ... (Read More)housebroken. We're working on this and Kenzy is doing better all the time. She does still have the occasional accident but she's learning. Kenzy does pretty well in her crate, although it is far from her most favorite place to be! She does tend to bark for a bit when first put in and left alone, so an apartment would probably not be a good thing for her. Kenzy is young and just loves to play and run. She will run and fetch a ball and loves to romp and roll around in the kiddie pool. She also loves to play with her foster brother. Since all of this is new to her, she's still learning play manners and will need a playmate with patience and energy! Kenzy just loves people and is so happy to finally have their attention. She sometimes gets a little too excited and will paw at you for rubs and attention, but we're working on teaching her to only give her paw when it is asked for. She is also learning other commands, such as off, leave it, and how to lay down. Kenzy is very smart and a very quick learner. I think Kenzy would do well in a home with another young dog to play with, since she has so much energy to burn. I also think she would do well with children. Since she is still learning appropriate behavior, it might be best if the children were over 10, so she couldn't knock them over. Kenzy does have heartworms and will need to have treatment to get rid of them before being adopted. If all goes according to plans she should be ready around the beginning of September.     Hello. I am Hampton. According to the dictionary, 'Hampton' means 'home settlement.' I think that's interesting, since I am looking for a home to settle in. I am about 6 years old. I am house trained. I love kids! I am trustworthy in the house all by myself. ( I really don't care much for the crate, so I behave.) I don't even get on your furniture. I'm just an all around great guy. My foster mom says I am a love-bug and an all around sweet guy. **blush**. She is deserving of such respect and treatment. I would love a chance to meet a new family that could love me for life. You should know that in my pre-Legacy days, I did not ... (Read More)receive the care and treatment I needed, so I have to go through heartworm treatment. Since I arrived into Legacy's care, I have also had a number of bumps removed, and that's not uncommon for many boxers. However, I do understand that there is always a risk they will return. Legacy will provide all the information that they have on my medical care, history and treatment. I understand that Legacy has given me the very special title of 'Silver Boxer' which I display proudly on my bio page. Here is the link for the benefits that come with that designation. http://www.savetheboxers.com/silver.phpI should be ready to meet potential families sometime in late July.     Hello All, My name is Jennifer; my Foster Dad calls me Jenna Wenna or Jenny or Jen for short. My Foster Dad tells me that I am a gorgeous flashy fawn Boxer Lady with a beautiful brown coat and gorgeous brown eyes. He tells me I weigh approximately 56 lbs and that I will end up around 60 lbs. (Read More)says I Kidney bean like crazy when I am excited and when my people come home. I love, love, love to play with toys and I like to carry them all over the house. I play with one toy, then another, and another. He calls me a serial toy player. I have some physical challenges that were caused by what we suspect was a car accident. However, my foster Dad says there is no way to know that for sure since no one saw my accident happen. You see, I had x-rays, whatever those things are and they showed I had 3 breaks in my hip area. I have somewhat limited use of my back right leg. I am getting stronger every day and have regained about 80% of the muscle mass in my back right leg. I am pretty sure that is due to love, good food, rest, and a ton of play with The Boxer Gang. My Foster Brothers Sky and John love to play with me. Of course I don't let my hip challenge slow me down. I love to play with my foster brothers and sister and chase them all over the house and yard pretty much every chance I get. I love people and I love snuggling with my Boxer foster brothers and sister. I love to sleep next to my people in bed and I settle down quickly and don't move until my people get up in the morning. I do love to sleep or rest on my back with all four paws facing the ceiling. My foster Dad says that I am silly. ;-) I may give a few kisses before I settle down to sleep, what, I like kisses. ;-) My Foster Dad tells me I mind very well and listen very well if he asks me to stop doing something. I know sit and I am learning some other commands. I am house trained and I will let you know that I need to go out by ringing the poochie bells or hitting my paw against the back door. If that doesn't work, I will sometimes go look for you. Also, I am crate trained and I settle down very quickly after I go into the crate. I am usually sitting nicely when my foster Dad comes home to let me out. That is all for now, I hope to meet you soon.     I am a sweet and gentle soul, but I still have a bit of spunk in me. I am house and crate trained and I know how to use a doggy door. I will let you know if I need to go outside by 'chuffing'. I am so well behaved that I am free to roam my foster home day and night. I know sit, lay down, come, outside and potty. I would be great with kids or grandkids since I don't jump up and I don't smother them with kisses. I love to be in whatever room my family is in. As an older woman, I have a couple of age related issues that we can discuss if you'd like to meet me. I ride well in a car and I love to take walks on a leash. My foster mom isn't sure ... (Read More)I knew how to play before, but I am learning now. I live with three other boxers and we all get along great. I am interested in those fast furry things called squirrels though, so small furry animals might no be a good idea for me. I like to snuggle and nap when it is TV time...and well, pretty much anytime. A woman does needs her beauty sleep you know. Please consider me if you'd like a laid back girl to hang out with!      'Hi friends! I'm Montana and I'm a super loving and sweet lap dog. My foster mom says I'm the easiest foster they've ever had and I like to agree. I'm a mature woman who is very well mannered and great in my crate. I can be a little selective of my other doggie friends but my foster mom thinks it's because I haven't had much interaction with other dogs in my younger years. I do love and respect the cat, I stay out of her food and she stays out of mine! We even give each other kisses sometimes! I love to sunbathe and go for walks but I can only handle the heat in short spurts, we do live in Texas! So if you're looking for a crazy, wild ... (Read More)puppy, keep looking!     Hi everyone! Meet Legacy foster Ms. Mulligan! When Mulligan first arrived into foster care it was evident she hadn't lived a very good life. She was under weight, scared and had no 'Boxer spirit'. It took a few weeks, but after some regular meals and lots of loving Ms. Mulligan is discovering what the good life is about! This little girl is a prime example of why Legacy does what it does! As Ms. Mulligan continues to come out of her shell her Boxer spirit has begun to return! In fact, we are learning that she's a whole lot of sweet and a whole lot of sassy! In fact, she has earned the nickname 'Ms. Sassy Pants'! Ms. Mulligan loves her daily ... (Read More)walks and does great on a leash! While she's cruising the neighborhood she likes everyone to know she's out and about! Who knew such a loud bark could come from such a little thing! She's also the sweetest little girl that loves nothing more than to be curled up in your lap or next to you on the couch. Each time you walk into the room she'll greet you with the fastest moving Boxer nub you have ever seen! In fact she gets so excited the back half of her body just wiggles and wiggles! Have you even seen what's often referred to as the Boxer Kidney Bean? Well, you haven't seen a kidney bean until you see Ms. Sassy Pants do it! Mulligan is cat friendly and kid friendly but is somewhat selective about her dog friends. Because of this she would prefer to be an only dog. She's crate trained and almost house trained. We're still having a few accidents in the house but that's ok because she's still learning! Ms. Mulligan is looking for her fur-ever home. Her fur-ever family needs to know she's had a bit of a rough life and will need a little love and patience. The positive side to this is she is the sweetest little girl and has a lot of love to give in return! Could this be the girl for you? How can you resist that face?     Let me introduce you to my 'Jewel of the Pacific'. Pearl. She got her name for two reasons. She is such a pretty white color and after Pearl Harbor. She is a absolute sweetheart. For a puppy, she is pretty calm, except when she plays with her fur siblings. She is almost totally house trained, and mostly good in a crate. She walks well on a leash, and loves to go places. She has never been around cats or small dogs, but she plays well with my puppy at home Pearl loves to snuggle with her fur and skin family. Let's you know when she is hungry or has to go potty.     Holmes here and I'm on the case...the case of finding my furever home! I am a sweet, stately gentleman between the ages of 7-8. I am a big boy, weighing in around 76 lbs. I am house and crate trained, though I do whine a little when in the crate at first. My favorite activities are eating (obviously), sleeping, playing with balls and just being around you. I know LOTS of tricks and will do them if you give me treats. I am such a character too; I love to play dead when my foster mom tries to get me to do something I don't want to. I love to cuddle and have my head and belly scratched. I move a little slower than your average boxer, ... (Read More)and I am a little selective about my dog friends. I get along with my foster family's younger, male boxer, but he's pretty active and I can get grumpy when he won't get out of my face. I can also be a little food, treat and toy dominant, so I need to be introduced to other dogs slowly. I haven't been tested, but I am pretty sure I would be good with kids. I am a gentle giant and just want to love and be loved. Will you solve my case and be my forever family? See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2531 (Less)

Animal ID: 13649Mattie (female)

Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

'Mattie was very severely abused in her life before coming to LBR. She was apparently used as a bait dog to help train Pit Bulls to fight before her LBR save. She has been with us for 8 months now and has come a long ways however I am not sure that she will ever put her past life totally behind her. According to the veterinarian she is between 3 and 4 years old. When we first picked her up she tested positive for heart worms. She had over 250 to 300 open puncture wounds on her and had 5 open tears in her skin which were severely infected and were old enough wounds that the vet said they could not be sewn up and would have to heal on ... (Read More)their own. Many of them were inflamed and oozing. The vet cleaned them up and treated them. They did heal but they left some pretty large scars. She has been with us for 8 months now and still has over 100 visible scars on her front legs, shoulders and head. The cartilage and joint in the elbow on her left front leg was pretty severely damaged by dogs chewing on it when she was used for a bait dog. She has arthritis in that elbow and the Veterinarian recommends that she be on a lifelong daily regimen of Fish Oil and Glucosamine & Chondroitin. He says that should help somewhat, however he says the damage is severe enough that it will cause her bigger problems as she becomes older. It doesn't currently appear to bother her when she is walking around, however when she first wakes in the morning or from a long nap she tends to limp for a few minutes on that leg. According to the vet walks would not be bad for Mattie at this point, however long runs should be avoided due to the joint damage in that elbow. One of her canines was broken off about 1/8 inch from the gums and the other three had been filed smooth at the gum line. By mid-January the three canines which were filed off had become infected and she had to go in and have them extracted. Due to the infection in the lower left canine the tooth in front of it had to be extracted as well. The lower right canine is the one which is broken off. It was not infected so the decision was made not to remove it at this time however the vet said we needed to watch it closely because there is a very strong probability that it will eventually have to be removed. Mattie randomly has Idiopathic Head Tremors. The Vet has no explanation however he thinks there may be some neurological problem which could possibly have been caused by the puncture wounds and dog fights she endured. Sometimes a week will go by without any issues and other times she will have two or three episodes a day. We are pretty sure that she was some ones pet which was either lost or stolen because she wouldn't get on any furniture and was pretty much house trained when we got her. After about 2 months she started getting on the sofa in our den but I don't think she would do it even now if it weren't for Dexter and Gus getting up there. She is house trained and will go to the door when she needs to go out but she doesn't make any noise at the door. Even now the problem is she doesn't go to the door until she really has to go and if you aren't constantly watching and you don't let her out immediately she will go right by the door. Mattie will not go out into the yard to pee or poo or the ground is wet. Doesn't matter if it is raining or if the lawn is just wet from the sprinklers or even a heavy frost, she will go to the bathroom on the deck under the patio cover. You have to watch when she goes out because she loves to dig in the yard. She hates cats and immediately goes on the attack if a cat is present. It only took her a couple of weeks to realize that our two boxer boys had no intention of hurting her and the three of them decided it was OK to peacefully coexist. It was almost four months before she started playing with them and it took her 5 months before she picked up her first toy. After almost 5 months she has finally become best buds with Gus and Dexter. I have taken her to pet fair several times however she is not comfortable in the Pet Fair environment. She growls and doesn't want any of the other dogs getting too near to her. She is afraid of the dogs as well as new people. She is much more accepting of meeting new people but she initially trembles and leans up to me or hides behind me for about the first 15 or 20 minutes when someone new comes up. She is easily startled by loud noises. She will run and hide behind furniture or in her crate if you yell at her or there are sudden loud noises. She walks very well on a leash but if someone walks toward us she will cower next to or behind me or will run away from them until she hits the end of the leash. She is becoming more trusting but is a long and slow process. See my complete bio at http://www.savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2484 (Less)

Hi. I'm Tara. Thanks for reading about me. I may be a little older then some of the other kids at LBR that you may read about, but I still have so much energy and love to give. I have learned that squirrels can run really fast when I chase them, and birds are pretty fast too! I am around 7 years old and have a little grey in my face, but don't let that fool you. I like to play with some toys and I love to chew! I will spend hours sitting next to you and contently chew on my bone. I like other dogs but I am self assured and will stand up for myself if I need to. I don't have the energy of some of those youngsters, so I don't think I ... There are two big boxer boys and a smaller boxer girl here that I love to play with and the dog beds are great too! I also love to be petted and curling up next to my foster mom on the couch. I had to get healthy the first couple of months I was with my foster family; I had to get spayed, have a couple of lumps removed, and have heart worm treatment. All that is behind me now and I am as good as new! I am also so ready for what my foster mom calls my 'furever' home. She told me about it, and it sounds amazing! I can't wait to have a family to call my own and be loved forever. If I sound like your kind of girl, let my foster mom know, I hope to meet you soon! Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

updated 8/9/14 Well HI everyone!!!! I'm Darbi!! My foster mom said it's time to tell you all about me! As you can see, I'm a very cute white boxer girl with an adorable brown patch on my left eye (if I do say so myself!). My foster mom also discovered that I am deaf and I am SO HAPPY that she did!!! I have learned a ton of signs--it is so amazing to be able to 'talk' to my human and understand what is expected of me!! Let's see.....I know the signs for 'good girl/good job,' 'crate,' 'wait,' 'come here,' 'no,' 'look at me,' 'go to sleep,' 'eat,' 'go potty,' 'I love you,' and 'sit.' It took a little while for me to realize that my foster mom ... (Read More)was talking to me. You see, my foster mom is pretty sure that my previous owners didn't realize I was deaf and maybe thought I was just being stubborn, so it's a good thing my foster mom figured it out! I'm a very good girl in my crate--I go right in and just sleep the day away until you come home (I eat in there too!). I am housetrained and have had no accidents in the house. My foster mom is working on teaching me to ring the bells on the door to let her know when I need to go out--it's a work in progress, but for now I know that I can also just walk around and stare at her and she gets the idea. It's good that I have my foster mom trained! I'm good with walking on my leash also, but I really prefer to use my harness because it is more comfy! I am very good with meeting new people--I jump up a little bit, but once they give me the sign for 'no' I remember my manners. Because I am deaf, my foster mom says no kids under 15, just so I am not startled by little feet and hands possibly running up to me when I am asleep or surprising me when my back is turned. There are a few more requirements needed in my special forever family because I also have a medical condition that will need maintenance. I have something called Auto Immune Thrombocytapenia (sometimes called Immune Mediated Thrombocytapenia)-it basically means that my platelets are all wonky without medicine and that could cause me to bleed if not maintained properly. I take a medicine called Prednisone every other day and it's not very expensive at all. I also have to go to the vet every 3 months for something called a CBC to get my platelets checked and make sure everything is good. Here are a few other needs that will necessary in my forever home: %BD' Medicine required every other day (that could change in dosage or frequency if condition changes) %BD' Regular CBC's at the vet to monitor platelet levels-currently every 3 months (could change in frequency if condition changes) %BD' I can never be vaccinated again-not even the Rabies vaccine-so no apartments for me %BD' Because I can't be vaccinated, I am limited in where I can go. I can't go on frequent visits to pet stores, or to dog parks, or to a typical boarding kennel or doggie daycare. I can go on leash walks in the neighborhood and on trails as long as you limit contact with strange dogs. %BD' The only options for boarding me are going to be at a veterinarian's office, an in-home sitter, or at a sitter's house if all other dogs are up to date on vaccinations. %BD' It is important to provide a very low stress or stress-free environment for me as stress can cause autoimmune diseases to 'flare up.' I need a home with no small children (less activity) and also a home that is relatively calm without a lot of new people coming over all the time. %BD' Because my socialization is limited by my autoimmune disease, I MUST have a home with at least 1 doggie friend. I love all dogs and really need to have at least 1 good friend to hang out with. It also helps me to have a hearing doggie friend, so I can more easily learn the routine of the house. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to meet new people and I so hope that you want to meet me!! I know I'm pretty special and it will take a very special family to become my furever home--contact the great people at Legacy Boxer Rescue to set up a meeting with me!!     Lady Lorsi is everything one could want in a boxer. She is both a 'happy-go lucky' court jester and a dainty diva princess! She is ... (Read More)both house and crate trained. She knows how to steal and plunder your heart, as well as your treat jar. She will guard your castle and defend against all cat or turtle invasions. She does like to kiss toads once in a while but she does not bring them inside. She loves to share fairy tales beside you on the pillow while snuggling. She would like an enchanted kingdom of her own with subjects who adore her. I don't know about little skin kids, because there are none at my home. Mom tells me I will like playing with them when I am not so scared anymore. Mom and dad are working on my fears right now, and getting my vaccinations I need. Mom hopes when all is done I will be ready to find my forever home. I can't wait! Please keep checking back on my baby girl's progress. Her spirit is there, just hidden.' 'Bio update: 5/1/13. Mom is making today my official birthday. I have grown up a lot, but know I still have some growing to do. I don't feel like I have to hide under the bed all the time. I have a nice crate that I can go into to de-stress if needed. And when mom and dad go to work, I go into my crate without a argument. I walk well on a leash, and will go outside with mom and dad on my own. I still have to do things on my own time, but mom and I play a lot in the evening when she gets home from work. If she doesn't realize it's play time, I get up on the couch and cry. Sunday mornings it all about a short tussle on the bed, then the cuddles. Mom is now focused on teaching me basic commands, and getting me out in the public.     Hello there, my name is Zia! It means splendor or light, and I bring lots of it to my foster home. I meet everyone at the door with my ears perked up and my whole body wiggling with excitement, I love to have people come over for a visit! My favorite thing in the world is to go for a walk or a ride in the car, I love to see the world and everyone in it. Like any respectable lady I've got excellent manners and perfect people skills, what more could you ask for? I am a middle-aged girl at about 5-6 years old, but there's plenty of life and spunk left in me don't you worry. I'm queen bee at my foster home, you see I've been a mama dog many ... (Read More)times and I always have to make sure that everyone is in line doing as they're told. I love children and really enjoy following them around and watching them as they play, just like a good mama should. I'd love to find a forever home with some kids just for me! I'm friends with the other dogs in my foster home, but I'm perfectly happy to be the princess and the center of attention. I prefer the couch or bed as opposed to my crate, but I promise to be a good girl and leave things just as you left them. Any good hostess meets her guests at the door with a smile and a hug, that yucky crate just cramps my style so please just leave me out to rule my roost while you're away! If you'd like to add some light to your life, let the nice people at Legacy know that Zia is the girl for you. I promise to meet you every day with a hug, smile, and my extra-special wiggle!     Howdy! Name's Wylie, nice to meet ya! I'm an older guy who loves life and still has plenty of energy left, so don't let this gray face fool you. I can run and bounce around just like any young whipper-snapper, come on over and I'll show ya. I'm about 11 years young and have plenty of stories to tell, just look into my big brown eyes and you'll see that I've been around the block a time or two. Speaking of the block, I really enjoy my daily walks and have perfect leash manners. I love to see the sights and take time to smell the roses. There are a couple of other dogs in my foster home and they're okay, but I'd much rather have my people ... (Read More)all to myself. I've spent 11 years sharing my attention, I don't think some special snuggle time is too much to ask for! Children are cute and all, but since I'm getting on in years I'd probably to better with older kids who will respect my space and leave me alone to enjoy my naps and quiet time. One of the many great things about adopting an older gentleman like myself is that I'm already house trained, crate trained, and know all the basic commands. What's not to love? I love having people come over to visit, I've got a great wiggle and a million dollar smile. Won't you come over and meet me? We can go for a nice walk and afterwards I'll tell you one of my special stories! I've got all kinds of time to kill and there's nothing else I'd rather do than spend it with you.     Want to meet the best kept Secret here at Legacy Boxer Rescue? Miss Secret is a very special girl. She is super sweet and loves her foster momma time. She is the best cuddler and loves to get up on the couch with you and hang out. When she first came to my house, she was scared of just about everything and had to learn how to be a dog again. In the time she has been here, she has learned to go outside to potty (with a doggie door), go in her crate with the point of a finger, and play with toys. Although she gets along great with her fur-siblings, it takes her a while to get used to new dogs. Secret has never chewed on anything in my ... (Read More)home, counter-surfed, or gotten into the trash. She is such a well behaved girl that she is left out of her crate even when I'm not home. Secret would love to go to a home where she had a brother to keep her company and parents that will let her curl up in the bed. This special girl has wiggled her way into my heart and I know she will do the same to you. Secret can't wait to meet you!     I want to be the first to let you know that while I may have grey on my face, I am spunky!! As far as love goes, I have TONS to give. I promise you will see it in my big, brown eyes. What am I looking for? A nice comfy bed and a family that will love me would be perfect. If don't have other animals in the house, that's okay. If you do, that's okay too. I'm happy either way. As you can see, I don't ask for much. I'm even a light eater and I only weigh 51 pounds. I'm just a dainty little girl. I hope to see you soon.      'Hi, my name is Miranda! I am a nine year old flashy brindle senior girl with a lot to offer someone who will love me just as I am. My foster Dad and Mom call me Randa for short and I like that! My foster dad tells me I have something called a sweet soul. Don't know quite what that means, I just know I love him and my foster mom bunches! I am an easy going girl, but don't let this smidge of silver on the ole' muzzle fool you! I have a lot of energy in reserve when it comes to play time!     Howdy y'all, Carney here! If you're trying to figure out where my name came from, I was named after the song 'Carney Man' by Cross Canadian Ragweed. Foster mom really loves that band and says the black under my left eye reminds her of clown make up. I've been at my foster mom's house for a few weeks and so far I love it here! I've got a fur sister named Ellie and her and I love to play together. She even uses me as a pillow sometimes and I don't mind at all. I share just about everything with her and am happy to do so. I am a little stingy with my food but I didn't always have food to call my own so I want it all to myself. Can you blame ... (Read More)me? I haven't always had nice people around me so it takes me a while to warm up to strangers. I try to scare them by barking but really I'm the one that's scared. Foster mom is helping me learn that people are good just like her. I am a deaf dog, but I don't let that hinder me at all. I am very smart and have been learning hand signals from my foster mom. I've got sit down really good and am working on down, off, come, and potty. She's been trying to convince me to go into a crate but I think she is CRAZY for wanting me to go in there but I am a LOT better at it now. I'm sure I'll eventually get used to it, but for now I'd rather be curled up next to foster mom or in a warm bed outside of the crate. Once I get settled in a little better I'll send out an update on me. Be sure to check back soon! To see his complete bio, visit http://www.savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2020 (Less)

Howdy friends! My name is Bogart and I am a laid back kind of guy! That is just the way I roll. When Legacy Boxer Rescue found me, I was in bad shape. I had one large mass hanging from my chest and one on each hip. I was very underweight and just tired from the path I was on. LBR took me in and got me well and all fixed up. I have a lot of life scars on my body, but you would never know by my heart. It is big and I love unconditionally at all times. I will be your best friend and your biggest fan. I am a big boy now and I like to eat. I like to sleep and just be by your side. I live with two other dogs and I have two kiddos. The dogs are ... (Read More)okay but I love my kids. I would probably be better with kids over ten since I am so big. I am not very active, but a good walk is okay and it gets me out so I can patrol the neighborhood. Just ask for Bogey if you are looking for a big laid back boy to spend time with. I know we will be best pals in no time! Woof Woof!
