Animal ID: 15036Missy (female)

Boxer    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Missy is a 6ish year old spayed large sized fawn female with natural ears and a docked tail. The owner took in Missy after her original owner passed away. The owner has a lot on her plate right now and as much as she loves Missy, she wants the best for Missy and knows she needs and deserves more training than she can provide right now. Owner states Missy has some aggression toward other dogs. She has 3 other dogs currently. She stays inside, crated when owner is away. She is a very loving girl who is full of boxer energy. She welcomed me into the home with wiggle butts all around. She lives with Mom, Dad, 2 year old, and Mom's mom. She can ... (Read More)be a little protective of the 2 year old. She is house and crate trained, though she is hardly ever crated because someone is usually home all the time. She is fine for bathing and grooming, let me handle her paws with no problems. She is calm for nail trims. Exercise is performed in the yard, and she also LOVES chasing a tennis ball. Pretty even energy level. She loved and was excited to chase the tennis ball, but was just as happy plopping down in my lap. No aggression with toys towards humans, but was not able to test other dogs. She is fed Blue Buffalo dry food due to sensitive tummy. Missy can sit, lay down. She was taught by owners. Walks well on leash. She is disciplined using verbal correction. No reaction if someone took her food bowl or rawhide. Behavior a foster or adoptive home would need to be aware of is possible aggression towards other dogs. She is up to date on vaccinations and heart worm prevention. Possible separation is a possibility with Missy due to aggression towards other dogs. She is a very classic looking fawn boxer. She reminds me of my families first boxer growing up. She listens very well and just likes to be around her people. When the grandma gets home after dialysis Missy stays by her side till she feels better. Very caring boxer baby. She is possibly cat friendly also. Owner has outside cat who Missy just ignores, not sure how she would react to a cat that runs away though. Her current family took her in when her previous owner passed away. Her current owner is having some family issues and can longer care for her as she needs. Missy just needs a stable home where she could be queen of the castle. Will you be her stepping stone to her kingdom? See my complete bio at http://www.savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2882 (Less)

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

UPDATE: Lois Lane needs to get rid of some yucky heartworms so she won't be ready for adoption until the end of March.' 'Hi everyone! I'm Lois Lane and I'm looking for my real-life superman to fly me to my furever home. My foster mom says I'm the sweetest girl you will ever meet. I've met tons of dog friends and I love them all. I haven't met any kitties yet but foster mom thinks I'd be fine with them since I'm so laid back. I have a fur brother at my foster home and we get along great, although he wants to play all the time and I'm happy just hanging out. I get scared pretty easily but my foster brother is so brave and he shows me ... (Read More)that I don't have to be afraid of anything anymore. I'm getting braver and braver every day. Foster mom says I have a cute tongue that sticks out when I sleep. She keeps pointing this flashy thing at me while I'm sleeping, I haven't figured out why yet. I'd love to meet you some day, so if you're interested let the awesome people at LBR know! Lois Lane's foster mom here. This girl is an absolute dream! All she needs now is a furever family to treat her like the angel she is. She loves to snuggle and she would be perfectly happy laying next to you on the couch all day, especially if you give her head scratches. She is housetrained and goes out the dog door or rings the bells when she wants to go out. She walks right next to you on her leash and doesn't make a peep in her crate. She does fine when left free to roam the house, although she will counter-surf so don't leave your dinner unattended...she had to have one flaw, no one is perfect ;) ' See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2880 (Less)

Hi there! I'm Shasta. I've had a rough start to my little life but things are looking up now. I've recently survived a bout of that nasty disease parvo. I'm in recovery for 30 days to make sure it's gone and that I don't get any other pup sick. I almost died and surely don't want any other pup to go through that. I'm looking and feeling good now. I'm trying to learn the basics on being a great indoor companion. I'm pretty good but at this age I can only hold it a couple of hours. If you can't let me go potty that often then I'm probably not the right pup for you at this point. I hate to be in a dirty crate until someone comes ... (Read More)home to let me out. I know there are a bunch of older pups to choose from. That's about it for now. Check back in the beginning of March. Barring any complications, I'll be ready! Tootaloo!     Hi Folks! My name is Vander and I am 2, but will be 3 in just a couple of months. I am a little guy, weighing around 50 lbs., but I am a HUGE lovebug! I am dog friendly; I love to play with other pups! My foster home has a big boxer boy and him and I like to mouth joust, wrestle and play with toys. I am also kid friendly and cat friendly. I think I'm just a friendly guy all around! I am a little unsure of myself in my new surroundings, I was a total outside dog and now I live inside, so it's a big change for me. I am not a huge fan of my crate, but my foster mom is working with me and I'm slowly realizing it's not a bad place after ... (Read More)all. I can be a little shy and timid when I first meet new people, but I'll warm up if you give me some love%BD'%BD|or a treat. I am gentle and submissive; I look to my foster family and their boxer to take my cues. I am house trained and love to be outside in the beautiful sunshine. My foster mom calls me a wiggle worm, because I like to wiggle my way into your lap or arms. Since I was an outside dog, I contracted heartworms and now I have to go through a treatment to get rid of those nasty things, but I'll show them! I have been neutered and got all my vaccinations so I'll be ready to meet you soon. Please keep me in mind and if you want to meet me I'll be ready in March.     I have been with my foster family about a week now. They think I am pretty awesome! My mom thinks I am pretty young'|probably between 10-15 months. I am a total love bug and super sweet. I have been great with the kids in my house. They are ages 2, 5, & 8. I have also been great with the dogs I have met. I met 2 dogs on my way to my foster home and made friends immediately. I have also been great with my fur brothers. I have loved playing with my foster brother Rex racing around in the back yard and I just chill with Charlie, a 10 year old Jack Russell. My mom thinks I am house trained. I had one accident in my first 5 seconds ... (Read More)in the house but not since. I do pretty well in a crate too. Sometimes I will cry in it if I can't see you or need to go outside but I settle down pretty quick. I have a great temperament too. I like to play but am not too rough and let others initiate play. I am just as happy sleeping on my comfy dog bed or my mom's kitchen mats that are super comfy too. She thinks I am silly. I am a pretty skinny boy and need to put on a good 5-10 lbs. I have a good appetite so it shouldn't be hard now that I am safe and have a place to rest, eat, and be loved. I just got neutered today and had to have a bump removed on my head. They aren't too worried about it but removed it so I can be even more handsome and so I don't bump it. I also have pretty itchy skin that they are trying to fix up. The doc is hoping that it is just from not having proper care and hopefully will be fixed up soon. There is a possibility I could be allergic to something but my mom says they are going to fix me up so I am ready to go regardless. My mom loves me and pretty much anyone who meets me thinks I am great. If you think you might want to meet me'|check back in a couple of weeks. My mom doesn't think I will be ready to meet anyone until the middle of February. Until then, I will be soaking in the love and recovering.     Hi, I'm Bockscar, and I'm a new puppy that will be looking for a new home. Right now I'm hanging with my foster parents and 3 fur siblings. I have a little eye problem that we are working on. I am also working on eating and sleeping so I can grow. Mom and dad said I have to wait a little while to actually meet the public until I have had my vaccinations. I can start meeting people about the first week of February, and go to a new home the first week of March. I will not be going to pet fairs until March. Mom will keep everyone updated.     Hi my name is Hooper and this is my story.... Some good Samaritans saw that I was lost and alone and they gave me some shelter. My foster mom said that they posted my picture on Facebook and eventually my foster mom was tagged in the post to help save me. I was then picked up and taken to Dallas Animal Services to work out my stray hold in case my original owners were trying to find me. They never came for me but then my foster momma came to the shelter and evaluated me. She approached my kennel but I wasn't too interested in her as so many people had already neglected me that I didn't have much hope. Then in the yard she kept following me, ... (Read More)calling me, and once she got me she wiped my boogies and picked some bugs off of me. It was at that moment I knew she loved me. She then left the room and started talking to someone on this little black contraption. Next thing I knew she was putting a leash on me and putting me in her car!! I was so happy to leave that place. The people there were really nice but the other dogs were way too noisy and really needed to take a chill pill. Then we arrived at the new homestead. I have a super soft warm bed, food, water, friends, and I get tons of hugs and kisses every day! I have always been told that this is what Heaven would be like!! I was really sick the first couple of days with something mom called Kennel Cough. I got tons of meds, zero sleep, and lots of love and hugs! Now that I am healed and super happy I get to play with this new girl that looks likes me and throws some sweet boxer punches and some other small curly haired girl that mom calls her sweet poodle. I have gotten to get out of the house a couple of times and I get this cool contraption put on me called a harness, then we are off to the races! I get to see the entire neighborhood with all its sights, sounds, and wonders and now that I know I am not alone I really like going for walks! What a wonderful feeling that is!! I am learning how to be an inside dog. Mom says I have some training to do but I am super smart and will learn quickly. I start my heartworm treatment and rest on January 20th and then will be ready for adoption at the end of February. I already have a list of families waiting to meet me so if you contact my mom about me don't get too depressed if I am not available. She said I am a looker and very popular! Please make sure to microchip and give your pets heartworm preventative! See my complete bio at http://www.savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2864 (Less)

Hi, my name is Shug. My name fits me well as that's what I do best - give ''shug-ar''! I am a very sweet 6 year old classy lady. I love snuggling with my people as well as doing my own thing in my doggie bed. I'm incredibly gentle around children. I love being petted and having my tummy rubbed and I have the softest fur. I do very well in the crate when needed and I don't potty in the house. I love walks and treats and playing with toy ropes. I know how to ''shake'' and ''sit'' and I'm learning more commands daily. I do best as an only dog in the home, but I'm working on my social skills - so maybe eventually I can have a fur ... (Read More)brother/sister.     Hi, my name is Captain Morgan, but you can call me Cappie. Thank you for stopping by my profile. I'm a brindle male boxer, and I'm about 7 years old. I have natural ears and a docked tail. I don't really know many commands, so my foster parents are working on the basics with me. I'm very dog friendly and I LOVE my fur sister and brother. I'm not too sure about cats, but I lick my lips whenever I see the cats that I live with. I also live with 4 kids and love when I get to play with them. Sometimes, when I see Fom putting on her work uniform, I just go ahead and put myself in the crate. I don't make much noise, so you have to ask me if I want out. I get along great with my fur sister, who is 7 months, we are play, play, play non stop. I understand I have to share the bone with her without aggression but I do like to hide it and make it a game. I also believe I'm a giant lap dog so my host mommy is always sharing her lap with me if I'm not playing. ... (Read More) That big wire thing, well I'm learning.. It's not my favorite to go into however if your bribe me and offer me a little help, I don't cry or bark. Especially if you cover me up with a blanket but still allow me to see my fur sister. So far I haven't had any accidents in mummy's house, so she is thrilled. I'm as sweet as can be to any human I meet, I haven't met one I have had a problem with yet, sometimes I'm a little timid but can you blame me, some people are scary. My mommy says she is gonna have a hard time letting me go but she can't wait to find me my perfect family, especially if they have another dog because I love to play. Mommy said she will write more when she knows more, until then, I'm off to play for awhile and then cuddle. See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2697 (Less)

Hello. I am Hampton. According to the dictionary, 'Hampton' means 'home settlement.' I think that's interesting, since I am looking for a home to settle in. I am about 6 years old. I am house trained. I love kids! I am trustworthy in the house all by myself. ( I really don't care much for the crate, so I behave.) I don't even get on your furniture. I'm just an all around great guy. My foster mom says I am a love-bug and an all around sweet guy. **blush**. She is deserving of such respect and treatment. I would love a chance to meet a new family that could love me for life. You should know that in my pre-Legacy days, I did not ... (Read More)receive the care and treatment I needed, so I have to go through heartworm treatment. Since I arrived into Legacy's care, I have also had a number of bumps removed, and that's not uncommon for many boxers. However, I do understand that there is always a risk they will return. Legacy will provide all the information that they have on my medical care, history and treatment. I understand that Legacy has given me the very special title of 'Silver Boxer' which I display proudly on my bio page. Here is the link for the benefits that come with that designation. http://www.savetheboxers.com/silver.phpI should be ready to meet potential families sometime in late July. Please let my mom know if you would like to meet me. I would love to be picked by a family, especially if you have kids.     'I am a Flashy Fawn with very distinguished markings.. I have 1 half-black eyebrow, a blaze that divides my face in half, a funky ripped ear and several small nicks and scars that tell of my hard times, 2 socks in front and 2 stockings in the back. I walk/prance/gallop like a Thoroughbred Stallion. I have just completed Heartworm treatment, which tells you how strong and tough I am, so I need to put on a few pounds. I'm not very food motivated, so I need treats like Peanut Butter, Cool Whip, whatever (healthy) options you find that entice me. I am house-, crate- trained, not jumpy, not food-, toy-aggressive, have manners, leash easy, ... (Read More)loving, not to mention HANDSOME. When my other FOS (Foster Sister) was here, she was the Queen/Alpha Dog,and I was happy to let her. Now she's gone and I''m in charge. I have a been a welcoming, hospitable and sharing FOB (Foster Brother) to sweet Candy, showing her the ropes, trying to teach her house manners and how we potty OUTSIDE. I do have some faults..I am not very vocal, so please be aware of my subtle communications( little whimpers). .. I like to go outside A LOT, every 2-3 hours if you'll let me. Otherwise, you better crate me or........... That's all my bad habits, and my love and good habits CLEARLY outweigh the negative. At bedtime,I like to tuck you in bed, but once you're asleep, I leave the bed and go stay in the living room/main room, where I can survey my kingdom and watch over my Family. But come breakfast time.... I'll be back !! ' See my complete bio at http://www.savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2682 (Less)

Juve is my name, and my team is Juventus FC. I am still a puppy at only 1 1/2 years old, so I have puppy energy, and I will need a family who wants to work on training with me. I am recovering from Heartworm Treatment, and I can start meeting my new friends about the middle of May. I live with three other boxers, two boys and one girl, and we all get along great. I am housetrained and crate trained (if you put cookies in there for me). I have learned to sit for a cookie at my new foster home.     'Hello All, My name is Jennifer; my Foster Dad calls me Jenna Wenna or Jenny or Jen for short. My Foster Dad tells me that I am a gorgeous flashy fawn Boxer Lady with a beautiful brown coat and gorgeous brown eyes. He tells me that I weigh approximately 57 lbs. I am a very sweet Boxer lady, well that is what my Foster Daddy tells me. ;-) My Foster Dad tells me I am very loving and that I enjoy giving what he calls endless kisses. So I might go a little over board on the kissing, what do you want? I do stop when asked nicely or when he tells me no ma'am. :) Did he tell you that I love to kiss? He says I Kidney bean like crazy when I ... (Read More)am excited and when my people come home. I love, love, love to play with toys and I like to carry them all over the house. I play with one toy, then another, and another. He calls me a serial toy player. I have some physical challenges that were caused by what we suspect was a car accident. However, my foster Dad says there is no way to know that for sure since no one saw my accident happen. You see, I had x-rays, whatever those things are and they showed I had 3 breaks in my hip area. I have somewhat limited use of my back right leg. I am getting stronger every day and have regained about 80% of the muscle mass in my back right leg. I am pretty sure that is due to love, good food, rest, and a ton of play with The Boxer Gang. My Foster Brothers Sky and John love to play with me. Of course I don't let my hip challenge slow me down. However, due to my back hip/leg stairs are very dangerous to me and I need to go to a home without stairs. I love to play with my foster brothers and sister and chase them all over the house and yard pretty much every chance I get. I like to play so much with them that my foster Dad says that my forever home needs to have a play partner as I would be somewhat lost without a four legged friend. I love people and I love snuggling with my Boxer foster brothers and sister. I love to sleep next to my people in bed and I settle down quickly and don't move until my people get up in the morning. I do love to sleep or rest on my back with all four paws facing the ceiling. My foster Dad says that I am silly. ;-) I may give a few kisses before I settle down to sleep, what, I like kisses. ;-) My Foster Dad tells me I mind very well and listen very well if he asks me to stop doing something. I know sit and I am learning some other commands. I am house trained and I will let you know that I need to go out by ringing the poochie bells or hitting my paw against the back door. If that doesn't work, I will sometimes go look for you. Also, I am crate trained and I settle down very quickly after I go into the crate. I am usually sitting nicely when my foster Dad comes home to let me out. That is all for now, I hope to meet you soon. Love Jennifer and The Boxer Gang' See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2629 (Less)

I am a sweet and gentle soul, but I still have a bit of spunk in me. I am house and crate trained and I know how to use a doggy door. I will let you know if I need to go outside by 'chuffing'. I am so well behaved that I am free to roam my foster home day and night. I know sit, lay down, come, outside and potty. I would be great with kids or grandkids since I don't jump up and I don't smother them with kisses. I love to be in whatever room my family is in. As an older woman, I have a couple of age related issues that we can discuss if you'd like to meet me. I ride well in a car and I love to take walks on a leash. My foster mom isn't sure ... (Read More)I knew how to play before, but I am learning now. I live with three other boxers and we all get along great. I am interested in those fast furry things called squirrels though, so small furry animals might no be a good idea for me.      'Hi friends! I'm Montana and I'm a super loving and sweet lap dog. My foster mom says I'm the easiest foster they've ever had and I like to agree. I'm a mature woman who is very well mannered and great in my crate. I can be a little selective of my other doggie friends but my foster mom thinks it's because I haven't had much interaction with other dogs in my younger years. I do love and respect the cat, I stay out of her food and she stays out of mine! We even give each other kisses sometimes! I love to sunbathe and go for walks but I can only handle the heat in short spurts, we do live in Texas! So if you're looking for a crazy, wild ... (Read More)puppy, keep looking!     Hi everyone! Meet Legacy foster Ms. Mulligan! When Mulligan first arrived into foster care it was evident she hadn't lived a very good life. She was under weight, scared and had no 'Boxer spirit'. It took a few weeks, but after some regular meals and lots of loving Ms. Mulligan is discovering what the good life is about! This little girl is a prime example of why Legacy does what it does! As Ms. Mulligan continues to come out of her shell her Boxer spirit has begun to return! In fact, we are learning that she's a whole lot of sweet and a whole lot of sassy! In fact, she has earned the nickname 'Ms. Sassy Pants'! Ms. Mulligan loves her daily ... (Read More)walks and does great on a leash! While she's cruising the neighborhood she likes everyone to know she's out and about! Who knew such a loud bark could come from such a little thing! She's also the sweetest little girl that loves nothing more than to be curled up in your lap or next to you on the couch. Each time you walk into the room she'll greet you with the fastest moving Boxer nub you have ever seen! In fact she gets so excited the back half of her body just wiggles and wiggles! Have you even seen what's often referred to as the Boxer Kidney Bean? Well, you haven't seen a kidney bean until you see Ms. Sassy Pants do it! Mulligan is cat friendly and kid friendly but is somewhat selective about her dog friends. Because of this she would prefer to be an only dog. She's crate trained and almost house trained. We're still having a few accidents in the house but that's ok because she's still learning! Ms. Mulligan is looking for her fur-ever home. Her fur-ever family needs to know she's had a bit of a rough life and will need a little love and patience. The positive side to this is she is the sweetest little girl and has a lot of love to give in return! Could this be the girl for you? How can you resist that face? If you would like to meet Ms. Sassy Pants please contact Legacy. See my complete bio at http://www.savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2592 (Less)

Animal ID: 13649Mattie (female)

Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

'Mattie was very severely abused in her life before coming to LBR. She was apparently used as a bait dog to help train Pit Bulls to fight before her LBR save. She has been with us for 8 months now and has come a long ways however I am not sure that she will ever put her past life totally behind her. According to the veterinarian she is between 3 and 4 years old. When we first picked her up she tested positive for heart worms. She had over 250 to 300 open puncture wounds on her and had 5 open tears in her skin which were severely infected and were old enough wounds that the vet said they could not be sewn up and would have to heal on ... (Read More)their own. Many of them were inflamed and oozing. The vet cleaned them up and treated them. They did heal but they left some pretty large scars. She has been with us for 8 months now and still has over 100 visible scars on her front legs, shoulders and head. The cartilage and joint in the elbow on her left front leg was pretty severely damaged by dogs chewing on it when she was used for a bait dog. She has arthritis in that elbow and the Veterinarian recommends that she be on a lifelong daily regimen of Fish Oil and Glucosamine & Chondroitin. He says that should help somewhat, however he says the damage is severe enough that it will cause her bigger problems as she becomes older. It doesn't currently appear to bother her when she is walking around, however when she first wakes in the morning or from a long nap she tends to limp for a few minutes on that leg. According to the vet walks would not be bad for Mattie at this point, however long runs should be avoided due to the joint damage in that elbow. One of her canines was broken off about 1/8 inch from the gums and the other three had been filed smooth at the gum line. By mid-January the three canines which were filed off had become infected and she had to go in and have them extracted. Due to the infection in the lower left canine the tooth in front of it had to be extracted as well. The lower right canine is the one which is broken off. It was not infected so the decision was made not to remove it at this time however the vet said we needed to watch it closely because there is a very strong probability that it will eventually have to be removed. Mattie randomly has Idiopathic Head Tremors. The Vet has no explanation however he thinks there may be some neurological problem which could possibly have been caused by the puncture wounds and dog fights she endured. Sometimes a week will go by without any issues and other times she will have two or three episodes a day. We are pretty sure that she was some ones pet which was either lost or stolen because she wouldn't get on any furniture and was pretty much house trained when we got her. After about 2 months she started getting on the sofa in our den but I don't think she would do it even now if it weren't for Dexter and Gus getting up there. She is house trained and will go to the door when she needs to go out but she doesn't make any noise at the door. Even now the problem is she doesn't go to the door until she really has to go and if you aren't constantly watching and you don't let her out immediately she will go right by the door. Mattie will not go out into the yard to pee or poo or the ground is wet. Doesn't matter if it is raining or if the lawn is just wet from the sprinklers or even a heavy frost, she will go to the bathroom on the deck under the patio cover. You have to watch when she goes out because she loves to dig in the yard. She hates cats and immediately goes on the attack if a cat is present. It only took her a couple of weeks to realize that our two boxer boys had no intention of hurting her and the three of them decided it was OK to peacefully coexist. It was almost four months before she started playing with them and it took her 5 months before she picked up her first toy. After almost 5 months she has finally become best buds with Gus and Dexter. I have taken her to pet fair several times however she is not comfortable in the Pet Fair environment. She growls and doesn't want any of the other dogs getting too near to her. She is afraid of the dogs as well as new people. She is much more accepting of meeting new people but she initially trembles and leans up to me or hides behind me for about the first 15 or 20 minutes when someone new comes up. She is easily startled by loud noises. She will run and hide behind furniture or in her crate if you yell at her or there are sudden loud noises. She walks very well on a leash but if someone walks toward us she will cower next to or behind me or will run away from them until she hits the end of the leash. She is becoming more trusting but is a long and slow process. See my complete bio at http://www.savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2484 (Less)
