Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Star is a beautiful girl who spent about a month in the shelter. She needs to destress a little, put on some weight and get over her cold, and then she'll be ready to begin looking for her happily ever after. Star has only just arrived, but she walks well on a leash, is good with other dogs, is housetrained and crate trained. As we learn more about her, we will update everyone. Oh! Best part. Star is brilliant! She knows sit, shake, down and roll over for tummy rubs. See my complete bio at http://www.savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2813

'Hi I have been with my foster family a couple of days so they are still trying to learn more about me. So far I have showed them how sweet, beautiful, and smart I am. I have been great in my crate with no barking. My mom thinks I am the best in a crate she has seen, especially since I am still pretty young. I have been friendly thus far with the other dogs in the house. I have loved running around the backyard with my 8 year old boy. I seem to be a fast learner and my mom is trying to teach me good manners so I can impress everyone. I still have some nasty heartworms to get rid of so I should be ready about mid December. Check back ... (Read More)and I will have more pics and updates about me. ' See my complete bio at http://www.savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2811 (Less)

Boxer    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

'Hello my name is Ziggy. I am a healthy happy Baby Boy Boxer. The people at the shelter guessed that I was around 10 months old but mom thinks that I may be a bit younger. My foster mom says that I am still full of puppy antics, whatever that means :-) I have had a couple of accidents in the house but I am trying really hard to get house trained. I have to be watched closely as I have been caught chewing things that I am told I should not be chewing on (especially my mom's toes)! I LOVE my foster fur sister and want her to play ALL the time. I would do best with a fur sibling to help show me the ropes. I am working on commands. My mom ... (Read More)tells me that I am really smart as I learn stuff quickly. She is really enforcing the sit, stay and come as she somehow feels I could be an escape artist. I am patiently waiting by furever home, until then I need to go and terrorize by foster fur sibling.     'My name is Checkers and I am what's known as a ''check'' boxer. I have the perfect mixed amount of both fawn and white fur. My foster mom says if you look up the definition of the word ''puppy'' in the dictionary, you'll see a picture of me! I don't know what she means by that....I'm just really really really really really really excited to see you! I came to LBR with a broken leg and they were so kind to fix it for me on October 27th. I will be on crate rest through the end of 2014 while also working on my manners. I look forward to meeting you in 2015! ' See my complete bio at ...     Hi There. I am Doogie Bowser. I think they named me after some TV Star. I don't know, but I will sit pretty for you anyway. Something was said about wormies in my heart, that doesn't sound good. But they said they were going to fix me up and make me all better, now that sounds good. My foster Mom and Dad said I should be all better after Christmas. Not sure when that is, but I hope it is soon. Anyway, in the meantime they say they can get to know me better. Be sure to check back with me as I am sure they will find out I am just awesome in the sweetest way. See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2799

Hi! My name is Giggs. I have been with my foster family for a few weeks. I am the sweetest boy. I love every human and fur friend I have met so far. I love being with my people and I am not a big fan of my crate. I ride very well in the car, and am 100% house trained. When I got to LBR, I weighed 46 pounds and should be about 70-75 pounds. I have been getting lots of yummy food and my foster mom says I am filling in and looking like a real dog. I still need to get neutered and have heart worm treatment before I am ready to find my forever family. My foster mom will update when I am ready to go. See my complete bio at ...     'Little Jazzie is recovering from parvo. She still has a ways to go before she can start looking for her very own forever family. She'll need 30 days after the parvo has run it's course before that happens. Hopefully that 30 days will start soon. Meanwhile she is learning the basics. Crate training, leash walking and sitting are a few of the things we've worked on. Check back often for updates. When she starts her 30 days, I'll be sure to share.'     Rookie is a very high-energy, zoomy, leaping, loving boy who thinks he's still a puppy. He wants to play with everyone and dog he meets. He's crate- and house-trained, and loves to snuggle right up next to you. He knows a few basic commands, and is eager to please. He would probably be a great agility pup, as he's very fast, pays attention, and jumps higher and farther than any boxers I've met...just beautiful to see him run and play.     Hi! My name is Sir Otis! I am one happy and bouncey guy! I am so thankful to be in my foster home and out of the shelter! My foster mom says that I am perfect. She says that I am super smart, sweet, I listen well, and am learning the new digs pretty quickly. She also constantly tells me how cute I am, I mean what can I say I kind of have it going on! I walk pretty well on a leash, I know how to sit, shake, go to my crate, and go to my bed. I love to please, so I am willing to do anything if asked and given kisses! I love to be with my people and am so thankful that my new home lets me be inside! I love it inside! I get along well with my ... I have to go through heartworm treatment so I should be ready around the second week of November. Let me know if you want to get on my list until then. Thanks! Chao!     'Hello , My name is Waldo and I'm so glad to be out of jail. Those Legacy Boxer Rescue guys busted me out a few days ago and I'm at my fosters place now. I like it here because I get all the yummy food I want and lots of love too. I need some time to go see the Doctor Man and gain some weight. You see I'm pretty skinny right now. Groceries have been pretty hard to come by until now. I'll be good as new soon enough though. You just wait and see. I won't be ready to meet anybody until I get cleared by the Doctor Man so please give my other foster friends a look see. I know one of them is just right for your family. I'll check back in as ...     Hello my name is Truett!! I am 8 months old as of September. I came to LBR because I accidentally got out of my old house and got hit by a car. Since I was found I had to have a pretty serious hip surgery called FHO surgery. I will have to recover and do some physical therapy for the next 8-10 weeks. Over that time I will be able to meet people but my foster mom says I need to heal from surgery first. I should be able to go on meet and greets starting mid October. Check back soon for more information! See my complete bio at http://www.savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2774

Hi Everyone! My name is McGee, as in Special Agent McGee, but my foster mom says I'm still a probee. I'm about 5 months old and I'm currently learning the ropes, so that I can grow up and go on special missions, like the big dogs. I'm learning all of the call signs so that I can communicate effectively with my commander. I am super smart and have already learned the signs for 'sit' and 'good boy' and am working on 'wait' and 'down'. I live with 2 skin sisters that I love, along with a cat, that I sometimes like to chase, but don't worry, I don't want to hurt him. I'm just curious and want to play. I also have 3 fur siblings in my foster home ... (Read More)and though I'm not really in to playing rough, I do like to do boxer burns in the back yard and wrestle with my my fur sister. My foster mom says that I'm so silly and very calm for a puppy. My favorite thing is to climb in my foster mom's lap for snuggles and a nap. I am currently working through some skin issues that I came in to LBR with, but I should hopefully be ready to come home with you in a few weeks and I can meet you any time! If you'd like to meet me, please contact my foster mom to set up a meeting. Lots of slobbery kisses, McGee. See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2764 (Less)

Animal ID: 14509Jameson Kelly (male)

Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

'Hi, and thank you for visiting my bio. My name is Jameson Kelly and I'm a 4-year old brindle male boxer. I have natural ears and a natural tail. I'm about 70lbs. (I'm a big boy), and I am very strong. My foster parents rescued me from the shelter as I was picked up as a stray. They took me to the vet and they found I had heartworms, but those are all gone now. Because of my past life and living on the street for a while, I'm not very friendly with cats, and I am selective about the dogs I'm friendly with. I am good with kids, but because of my size, I'm best around kids over 10. I get excited sometimes and wouldn't want to ... (Read More)accidentally knock a smaller kid down. I am good in a crate (I don't fight going in, but will whine for a second once I'm in there...could you blame me). I picked up ''sit'' really quickly and my foster parents are working with me to learn more commands. I love going on walks and I'm good on a leash. I'm learning to sit before I cross the street (gotta look both ways ya know). All I'm looking for is a family to call my own. I'm a big lover and want to share my love with someone/a family that is special.' See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2748 (Less)

'Hey there, I'm Hotchner. Chics dig me; I have a gnarly scar on my leg so that automatically gets me in good with the ladies. You see, I was involved in a nasty accident that caused an injury to my leg. There's no need to be concerned with what happened; I forgot all about it as soon as the good people at Legacy rescued me and got me all fixed up! I am of a smaller to medium build, well shorter anyway. I like my food & treats so my foster mom says that makes me a little fluffy, whatever that means. I'm pretty quiet unless my foster brother starts barking, then I feel like I should chime in too but that doesn't happen very often. ... (Read More)I'm a pretty laid back guy. Even though I will go into my crate for a treat and not make a fuss, I can be trusted when left on my own. Unless there's a toy box'|I might feel like playing so I'll help myself to something squeaky. I know sit, shake and lay down; but I prefer to take my time doing these things. I just want to make sure that's what you really want me to do before I do it and you change your mind. The only things I get in a hurry for is when it's time to eat or when I see some squirrels or birds or cats that need to be chased. If you have these things in your backyard, I can be the critter patrol for you, free of charge. I love me some little kids. There are some little girls that live next door and I just love when they come to say hi to me. I wiggle my nub so much my whole rear end waddles back and forth. I'm very gentle with them too. I like to stand right next to them and if they sit down I want to be in their lap but I don't jump or pounce. I just want them to pet me and love on me. I also get along with other dogs of all sizes. We see lots of them when we are out walking and I'm always friendly; even when they are grouchy I just ignore them. Now, my foster brother on the other hand, he's much younger and more energetic than me. Sometimes he is just too much and I try to give these warning noises for him to settle down but I never try to bite him. Foster Mom tells me 'no' so I listen to her; I'm a pretty good boy. If you want to know more about me or better yet, want to meet me, let the good folks at Legacy know so we can set it up. Hope to see you soon!'     'Hi there! I am so excited that you are stopping by my page and know you are going to be impressed with my sweet little self! I'll start out by telling you that I will need to stay with my foster family for a while. The vet told my foster mom that I have a skin infection and a mild case of Demodex mange. That's okay, because I am taking medicine and really hope to be all better before you know it. I don't go back to the vet for a follow up until late October, so I won't be available for adoption before then. In the meantime, it hasn't slowed me down and I am having fun playing with the fur kids at my foster home. I really like to play & ... (Read More)play & play some more. I have so much energy that it is a good thing there are two fur playmates here. I can wear one out and still have another one to play with....we have so much fun!!! I love to be outside and do Boxer burns in the big backyard and play chase with the fur kids here. I can even run faster than them, so I usually win the race!! There are lots of toys here, but I would rather play with the fur kids, or help them chase after the laser light. I have gotten along with all the doggies I have met and am nothing but wiggles whenever I see a new playmate. I am also very happy when I meet new people and with all this enthusiasm, I could accidentally knock over a toddler. I just can't control my wiggle waggle when I am so excited!! I was afraid in the beginning, but learned to use the doggie door after a few days and now it is hard to keep me inside. I also haven't had any pottie accidents lately and this makes my foster mom & dad very happy. Being outside and exploring the backyard is so much fun and also one of my favorite places to be! I don't like when I have to come inside, but my foster mom & dad don't want me to get sunburned. I know how to sit and understand what ''no'' means, but don't always listen. I am learning other things like off, down, shake, leave it and how to walk on a leash. I hate being confined, or restrained, so me and that leash aren't friends yet. I really like when foster mom gets excited and I get these yummy treats for doing what she asks. I will go in the crate to get a treat, but I just don't like being confined to such a small area. I have never chewed on anything I shouldn't, but I am a hungry, growing young lady. I always finish eating before everyone else and will help you finish whatever is on your plate, or in your bowl. You must not like it as much as me since it is taking you so long to eat! At night, I sometimes cuddle up next to one of the fur kids on their doggie bed, but I have another spot that I like even better. My foster mom and dad let me sleep in their bed and I get to snuggle up really, really close! This is my very favorite place to sleep!! My foster family thinks I will do best in a home with a yard, another doggie companion and no more than 4 continuous hours of crate time. I don't spend more than an hour or two in the crate at my foster home, as someone is almost always home. Once I am older and have learned all the rules, then it might be okay to leave me uncrated. Please reach out to your adoption counselor if you are interested in meeting me. Please also remember that we are currently not sure when I will be released, but hope to have a better understanding of the timeline when we follow up with the vet in late October. My foster mom & dad tell me that I am a very good girl and that I deserve the very best family of my own. They will be sad when it is time for me to leave, but many pictures and updates will be required from my new family. Thanks Again! Love Wrigley!     'Hi! I'm such a sweet sugar-face they named me Candy. I was brought to a shelter after living in the back yard all my life ( 6- 8 yrs). My ''family'' was going to have me put down. I was so covered in ticks they couldn't tell if I had any other lumps/bumps or not. Well I am clean and tick-free now.     Tucker is an energetic 4 year old boy that is full of kidney bean dances and wiggles! He currently lives with 2 skin sisters (7 years old and 2 years old) and he just loves them to pieces. Tucker can be a little jumpy during introductions, but he calms down pretty quickly with some correction. He is currently the only dog in the foster home, but so far he has gotten along great with other dogs. His fur cousin is a Great Dane and he just loves to play and bounce around with him. Tucker has not had any accidents in the house or crate. He gets in his crate fairly well (with some treat bribes), and once he is in there he does not whine. ... Because of this, my mom thinks I will do best in a home with kids over 7 or dog savvy kids. I am with kids ages 8, 5, and 20 months and am doing great. I have a older Jack Russell brother who I love. I try and get him to play with me but he usually just chills. My mom has had me play with a boxer friend and I loved it. I am great on my walks and don't pull... when I see a bunny I usually stop and stare. In the backyard I love to chase them though. I am good with dogs on walks and haven't barked at them ever. My mom took me to the pet fair and I was great around other dogs and didn't get too excited. I just stayed by her and let everyone love me. I have had a few leash intros with other dogs and have been fine. I am house trained and crate trained. I love going in my crate to sleep at night. I am pretty low key during the day and just hang out. When I go outside I am usually calm too but every once in a while I will race around and do boxer burns. I like to sun bathe but given my fair complexion I can't stay outside very long. I like playing fetch but I don't always give the ball back. I love my toys too and my mom isn't sure how well I would share so she just keeps them up in the house and I get to play with them while outside. I am in the process of getting rid of some nasty heartworms. I will be ready to meet people at the beginning of August and ready for adoption towards the middle. I love people and look forward to meeting you! See my complete bio at http://www.savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2694 (Less)

'I am a Flashy Fawn with very distinguished markings.. I have 1 half-black eyebrow, a blaze that divides my face in half, a funky ripped ear and several small nicks and scars that tell of my hard times, 2 socks in front and 2 stockings in the back. I walk/prance/gallop like a Thoroughbred Stallion. I have just completed Heartworm treatment, which tells you how strong and tough I am, so I need to put on a few pounds. I'm not very food motivated, so I need treats like Peanut Butter, Cool Whip, whatever (healthy) options you find that entice me. I am house-, crate- trained, not jumpy, not food-, toy-aggressive, have manners, leash easy, ... (Read More)loving, not to mention HANDSOME. When my other FOS (Foster Sister) was here, she was the Queen/Alpha Dog,and I was happy to let her. Now she's gone and I''m in charge. I have a been a welcoming, hospitable and sharing FOB (Foster Brother) to sweet Candy, showing her the ropes, trying to teach her house manners and how we potty OUTSIDE. I do have some faults..I am not very vocal, so please be aware of my subtle communications( little whimpers). .. I like to go outside A LOT, every 2-3 hours if you'll let me. Otherwise, you better crate me or........... That's all my bad habits, and my love and good habits CLEARLY outweigh the negative. At bedtime,I like to tuck you in bed, but once you're asleep, I leave the bed and go stay in the living room/main room, where I can survey my kingdom and watch over my Family. But come breakfast time.... I'll be back !! ' See my complete bio at http://www.savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2682 (Less)

' I am just settling in to my foster home but like the lady I am I just had to say hello to you. I am a nine year old girl who is just looking for a place to call home, and a family who will love me. I had one family and a fur brother until just recently. My fur brother passed away and my family felt I was too lonely, so they dropped me off at the shelter and these nice LBR people came and picked me up. Now I am not lonely, because there are two other furkids here with me. Well, really one crazy young lady and a handsome gentleman. I am getting along with both of them, and was I happy to see them when I got here! My little nub was ... (Read More)moving a mile a minute. So, I am living a dog's life here. I get up in the morning and have a bite to eat with the family. I am on a bit of a diet, trying to get my girlish figure back. I am learning to use the dog door, but let mom know when I need to go out. I am great in my crate, and sometimes go in there for a quick nap. I don't bark much - what lady would? But I do let mom know when someone is at the door. I am a little hard of hearing, so sometimes I need to be woken up from a nap if there is something you want me to do. Everyone here is trying to teach me about these things they call toys - I never had them before. I am not sure what all the fuss is about but that crazy young lady seems to think they are the cat's meow. My mom will post some more information when I get to know her a little better, but if you would like to have a lady around the house let your AC know. I would love to meet you!     Juve is my name, and my team is Juventus FC. I am still a puppy at only 1 1/2 years old, so I have puppy energy, and I will need a family who wants to work on training with me. My foster mom says I have those nasty heartworms, but due to my age, I cannot do the regular treatment. So, all you will have to do is watch me carefully the days I get my prevention. When I got out of the shelter, I had 5 lumps on me, including one ulcerated one. :( LBR promptly got me to the vet and they were able to be removed. Yay for benign lumps! No cancer for me.     Hello All, My name is Jennifer; my Foster Dad calls me Jenna Wenna or Jenny or Jen for short. My Foster Dad tells me that I am a gorgeous flashy fawn Boxer Lady with a beautiful brown coat and gorgeous brown eyes. He tells me I weigh approximately 56 lbs and that I will end up around 60 lbs. I am a very sweet Boxer lady, well that is what my Foster Daddy tells me. ;-) My Foster Dad tells me I am very loving and that I enjoy giving what he calls endless kisses. So I might go a little over board on the kissing, what do you want? I do stop when asked nicely or when he tells me no ma'am. %81S Did he tell you that I love to kiss? He ... (Read More)says I Kidney bean like crazy when I am excited and when my people come home. I love, love, love to play with toys and I like to carry them all over the house. I play with one toy, then another, and another. He calls me a serial toy player. I have some physical challenges that were caused by what we suspect was a car accident. However, my foster Dad says there is no way to know that for sure since no one saw my accident happen. You see, I had x-rays, whatever those things are and they showed I had 3 breaks in my hip area. I have somewhat limited use of my back right leg. I am getting stronger every day and have regained about 80% of the muscle mass in my back right leg. I am pretty sure that is due to love, good food, rest, and a ton of play with The Boxer Gang. My Foster Brothers Sky and John love to play with me. Of course I don't let my hip challenge slow me down. I love to play with my foster brothers and sister and chase them all over the house and yard pretty much every chance I get. I love people and I love snuggling with my Boxer foster brothers and sister. I love to sleep next to my people in bed and I settle down quickly and don't move until my people get up in the morning. I do love to sleep or rest on my back with all four paws facing the ceiling. My foster Dad says that I am silly. ;-) I may give a few kisses before I settle down to sleep, what, I like kisses. ;-) My Foster Dad tells me I mind very well and listen very well if he asks me to stop doing something. I know sit and I am learning some other commands. I am house trained and I will let you know that I need to go out by ringing the poochie bells or hitting my paw against the back door. If that doesn't work, I will sometimes go look for you. Also, I am crate trained and I settle down very quickly after I go into the crate. I am usually sitting nicely when my foster Dad comes home to let me out. That is all for now, I hope to meet you soon.     Hi everyone! Meet Legacy foster Ms. Mulligan! When Mulligan first arrived into foster care it was evident she hadn't lived a very good life. She was under weight, scared and had no 'Boxer spirit'. It took a few weeks, but after some regular meals and lots of loving Ms. Mulligan is discovering what the good life is about! This little girl is a prime example of why Legacy does what it does! As Ms. Mulligan continues to come out of her shell her Boxer spirit has begun to return! In fact, we are learning that she's a whole lot of sweet and a whole lot of sassy! In fact, she has earned the nickname 'Ms. Sassy Pants'! Ms. Mulligan loves her daily ... (Read More)walks and does great on a leash! While she's cruising the neighborhood she likes everyone to know she's out and about! Who knew such a loud bark could come from such a little thing! She's also the sweetest little girl that loves nothing more than to be curled up in your lap or next to you on the couch. Each time you walk into the room she'll greet you with the fastest moving Boxer nub you have ever seen! In fact she gets so excited the back half of her body just wiggles and wiggles! Have you even seen what's often referred to as the Boxer Kidney Bean? Well, you haven't seen a kidney bean until you see Ms. Sassy Pants do it! Mulligan is cat friendly and kid friendly but is somewhat selective about her dog friends. Because of this she would prefer to be an only dog. She's crate trained and almost house trained. We're still having a few accidents in the house but that's ok because she's still learning! Ms. Mulligan is looking for her fur-ever home. Her fur-ever family needs to know she's had a bit of a rough life and will need a little love and patience. The positive side to this is she is the sweetest little girl and has a lot of love to give in return! Could this be the girl for you? How can you resist that face? If you would like to meet Ms. Sassy Pants please contact Legacy. See my complete bio at http://www.savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2592 (Less)

Only 2 of my puppies survived (Joy and Vixen) and they have since found their furever homes!! I'm so ready to find mine! Love is a not a strong enough word for how I feel for my foster mom, so sometimes I get jealous and angry when she is loving on someone else. My foster mom says I'm not jumpy, but I do love to gently stand up to give hugs. I have 4 skin brothers right now, so I'm used to kids, big and small. I probably should go to a home without children or with kids 10+. I get scared when someone touches me when I cannot see them, so I like to be greeted from the front.     Holmes here and I'm on the case...the case of finding my furever home! I am a sweet, stately gentleman between the ages of 7-8. I am a big boy, weighing in around 76 lbs. I am house and crate trained, though I do whine a little when in the crate at first. My favorite activities are eating (obviously), sleeping, playing with balls and just being around you. I know LOTS of tricks and will do them if you give me treats. I am such a character too; I love to play dead when my foster mom tries to get me to do something I don't want to. I love to cuddle and have my head and belly scratched. I move a little slower than your average boxer, ... (Read More)and I am a little selective about my dog friends. I get along with my foster family's younger, male boxer, but he's pretty active and I can get grumpy when he won't get out of my face. I can also be a little food, treat and toy dominant, so I need to be introduced to other dogs slowly. I haven't been tested, but I am pretty sure I would be good with kids. I am a gentle giant and just want to love and be loved. Will you solve my case and be my forever family? See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2531 (Less)

Hello my name is Jax. I'm a 4 year old white male that weighs in at 69 lbs. I am not deaf and can hear everything I choose to acknowledge. I do know a couple of commands but need further training to help me broaden my horizons. I am crate and house trained but I usually roam around the house with my two boxer foster sisters. I sleep on a dog bed in the bedroom at night. I'm good with the female dogs but I tend to show the other male dogs that I'm bigger than they are and my foster family currently keeps me separated from them. I get to eat alongside the girls when I'm eating and I really don't mind if they play with my toys, even when I'm ... (Read More)playing with them. I'm a little leery of meeting new people and will bark at them when they first come in the room but I'm very friendly and loving once I've gotten to know them. I'm never aggressive with people just fearful at first. Once I know you I'm a big, lovable boxer boy that likes to lay my head in your lap and get his ears rubbed. I had a problem with my skin and had a little hair loss that may or may not grow back but I'm ok now. If you think you might be the perfect match for me give me a call and we'll get together. Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

My name is Oslo, just like the capitol of Norway. I am white as the snow on the mountains (except for a little brown forehead patch that is fading into white as I mature). I'm not anywhere near as old as a glacier though. I have a warm personality and have my moments of silliness. I'm a pretty mellow guy overall and napping, eating and snuggling are my favorite activities. I trot around the yard and even slow gallop and my foster mom says it is lovely to watch. I like to roll in the grass, get a little sun while watching my foster mom sit in a lawn chair, and just be with my humans in general. I am a tad hard of hearing (from age) but ... (Read More)I know my name and my nickname 'Little Old Man.' I'm ok with calm dogs and don't take kindly to crazy, wild puppies. I'm crate trained and do woo woo/yodel for a bit, but then I settle down. My most interesting feature is my one handsome eye - I lost the other eye (I wasn't able to tell my foster mom how it happened). It doesn't bother me at all, though I prefer being greeted from my seeing side. I'm best around kids older than 12 who will respect my age and love me. I'm good on the leash and I like my harness. I'd like to meet you and see if there is a spark - Love, Oslo See my bio here: http://savetheboxers.com/available3.php?dogID=2499 (Less)

Animal ID: 13649Mattie (female)

Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

'Mattie was very severely abused in her life before coming to LBR. She was apparently used as a bait dog to help train Pit Bulls to fight before her LBR save. She has been with us for 8 months now and has come a long ways however I am not sure that she will ever put her past life totally behind her. According to the veterinarian she is between 3 and 4 years old. When we first picked her up she tested positive for heart worms. She had over 250 to 300 open puncture wounds on her and had 5 open tears in her skin which were severely infected and were old enough wounds that the vet said they could not be sewn up and would have to heal on ... (Read More)their own. Many of them were inflamed and oozing. The vet cleaned them up and treated them. They did heal but they left some pretty large scars. She has been with us for 8 months now and still has over 100 visible scars on her front legs, shoulders and head. The cartilage and joint in the elbow on her left front leg was pretty severely damaged by dogs chewing on it when she was used for a bait dog. She has arthritis in that elbow and the Veterinarian recommends that she be on a lifelong daily regimen of Fish Oil and Glucosamine & Chondroitin. He says that should help somewhat, however he says the damage is severe enough that it will cause her bigger problems as she becomes older. It doesn't currently appear to bother her when she is walking around, however when she first wakes in the morning or from a long nap she tends to limp for a few minutes on that leg. According to the vet walks would not be bad for Mattie at this point, however long runs should be avoided due to the joint damage in that elbow. One of her canines was broken off about 1/8 inch from the gums and the other three had been filed smooth at the gum line. By mid-January the three canines which were filed off had become infected and she had to go in and have them extracted. Due to the infection in the lower left canine the tooth in front of it had to be extracted as well. The lower right canine is the one which is broken off. It was not infected so the decision was made not to remove it at this time however the vet said we needed to watch it closely because there is a very strong probability that it will eventually have to be removed. Mattie randomly has Idiopathic Head Tremors. The Vet has no explanation however he thinks there may be some neurological problem which could possibly have been caused by the puncture wounds and dog fights she endured. Sometimes a week will go by without any issues and other times she will have two or three episodes a day. We are pretty sure that she was some ones pet which was either lost or stolen because she wouldn't get on any furniture and was pretty much house trained when we got her. After about 2 months she started getting on the sofa in our den but I don't think she would do it even now if it weren't for Dexter and Gus getting up there. She is house trained and will go to the door when she needs to go out but she doesn't make any noise at the door. Even now the problem is she doesn't go to the door until she really has to go and if you aren't constantly watching and you don't let her out immediately she will go right by the door. Mattie will not go out into the yard to pee or poo or the ground is wet. Doesn't matter if it is raining or if the lawn is just wet from the sprinklers or even a heavy frost, she will go to the bathroom on the deck under the patio cover. You have to watch when she goes out because she loves to dig in the yard. She hates cats and immediately goes on the attack if a cat is present. It only took her a couple of weeks to realize that our two boxer boys had no intention of hurting her and the three of them decided it was OK to peacefully coexist. It was almost four months before she started playing with them and it took her 5 months before she picked up her first toy. After almost 5 months she has finally become best buds with Gus and Dexter. I have taken her to pet fair several times however she is not comfortable in the Pet Fair environment. She growls and doesn't want any of the other dogs getting too near to her. She is afraid of the dogs as well as new people. She is much more accepting of meeting new people but she initially trembles and leans up to me or hides behind me for about the first 15 or 20 minutes when someone new comes up. She is easily startled by loud noises. She will run and hide behind furniture or in her crate if you yell at her or there are sudden loud noises. She walks very well on a leash but if someone walks toward us she will cower next to or behind me or will run away from them until she hits the end of the leash. She is becoming more trusting but is a long and slow process. See my complete bio at http://www.savetheboxers.com/available2.php?dogID=2484 (Less)

Hey there! My name is Cleverley! I am the wiggliest little girl you will ever meet! I have a lot of fun at myfoster home. There are two big boxer boys and a smaller boxer girl here that I love to play with and the dog beds are great too! While I love my friends here, I do need time to get to know new doggy friends when I first meet them. My foster parents have introduced me to everybody with a crate introduction, and after not too long, I am good to go! I weigh in at 56 pounds. I am amazing in my crate, I go right in with no protests and just curl up for a nap. I am great in the car and walk well on a leash. My favorite thing is to give ... (Read More)kisses. I also love to be petted and curling up next to my foster mom on the couch. I had to get healthy the first couple of months I was with my foster family; I had to get spayed, have a couple of lumps removed, and have heart worm treatment. All that is behind me now and I am as good as new! I am also so ready for what my foster mom calls my 'furever' home. She told me about it, and it sounds amazing! I can't wait to have a family to call my own and be loved forever. If I sound like your kind of girl, let my foster mom know, I hope to meet you soon! Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

updated 8/9/14 Well HI everyone!!!! I'm Darbi!! My foster mom said it's time to tell you all about me! As you can see, I'm a very cute white boxer girl with an adorable brown patch on my left eye (if I do say so myself!). My foster mom also discovered that I am deaf and I am SO HAPPY that she did!!! I have learned a ton of signs--it is so amazing to be able to 'talk' to my human and understand what is expected of me!! Let's see.....I know the signs for 'good girl/good job,' 'crate,' 'wait,' 'come here,' 'no,' 'look at me,' 'go to sleep,' 'eat,' 'go potty,' 'I love you,' and 'sit.' It took a little while for me to realize that my foster mom ... (Read More)was talking to me. You see, my foster mom is pretty sure that my previous owners didn't realize I was deaf and maybe thought I was just being stubborn, so it's a good thing my foster mom figured it out! I'm a very good girl in my crate--I go right in and just sleep the day away until you come home (I eat in there too!). I am housetrained and have had no accidents in the house. My foster mom is working on teaching me to ring the bells on the door to let her know when I need to go out--it's a work in progress, but for now I know that I can also just walk around and stare at her and she gets the idea. It's good that I have my foster mom trained! I'm good with walking on my leash also, but I really prefer to use my harness because it is more comfy! I am very good with meeting new people--I jump up a little bit, but once they give me the sign for 'no' I remember my manners. Because I am deaf, my foster mom says no kids under 15, just so I am not startled by little feet and hands possibly running up to me when I am asleep or surprising me when my back is turned. There are a few more requirements needed in my special forever family because I also have a medical condition that will need maintenance. I have something called Auto Immune Thrombocytapenia (sometimes called Immune Mediated Thrombocytapenia)-it basically means that my platelets are all wonky without medicine and that could cause me to bleed if not maintained properly. I take a medicine called Prednisone every other day and it's not very expensive at all. I also have to go to the vet every 3 months for something called a CBC to get my platelets checked and make sure everything is good. Here are a few other needs that will necessary in my forever home: %BD' Medicine required every other day (that could change in dosage or frequency if condition changes) %BD' Regular CBC's at the vet to monitor platelet levels-currently every 3 months (could change in frequency if condition changes) %BD' I can never be vaccinated again-not even the Rabies vaccine-so no apartments for me %BD' Because I can't be vaccinated, I am limited in where I can go. I can't go on frequent visits to pet stores, or to dog parks, or to a typical boarding kennel or doggie daycare. I can go on leash walks in the neighborhood and on trails as long as you limit contact with strange dogs. %BD' The only options for boarding me are going to be at a veterinarian's office, an in-home sitter, or at a sitter's house if all other dogs are up to date on vaccinations. %BD' It is important to provide a very low stress or stress-free environment for me as stress can cause autoimmune diseases to 'flare up.' I need a home with no small children (less activity) and also a home that is relatively calm without a lot of new people coming over all the time. %BD' Because my socialization is limited by my autoimmune disease, I MUST have a home with at least 1 doggie friend. I love all dogs and really need to have at least 1 good friend to hang out with. It also helps me to have a hearing doggie friend, so I can more easily learn the routine of the house. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to meet new people and I so hope that you want to meet me!! I know I'm pretty special and it will take a very special family to become my furever home--contact the great people at Legacy Boxer Rescue to set up a meeting with me!!      'Hi there! My foster mama named me Petunia, because I'm a pretty little girl...just like a flower! I am just a tiny little girl at 40ish lbs, which makes me the perfect size to fit in your lap! Which is my preferred place to be. I came to my foster home in May 2013. I just love my fur siblings so much, including my kitty sister, that I haven't wanted to leave. My foster parents don't think I've ever lived inside before, so I am soaking up the good life of laying on the couch snuggling with my foster mom. I had worms living in my heart when I first arrived, but we quickly had them evicted. I sleep in my crate during the day when my ... (Read More)foster parents are working. I use to hate my crate, but I'm not scared anymore because my foster sisters and brother are right next to me. I am house trained, but still have the occasional 'accident' in the house. I walk pretty well on a leash if I have my harness on, but if a doggie gets to close or a bunny runs by, I will pull. I do know 'sit', but don't always do it. My foster mom says I can be stubborn. But I just flash my sad puppy dogs eyes at her, give her sweet kisses and she forgets all about that 'stubborn' stuff. I still need some work on that training stuff mom is always talking about. When I first arrived here I didn't know what to think of my kitty sister, so I would just sit and stare at her forever!!!! But now we are friends and love to chase each other around the house. I also didn't know anything about toys or how to play. My foster brother tried and tried for months to play with me and I just sat and looked at him like he had three heads! Not anymore, now I LOVE to wrestle with him. I particularly enjoy biting his ankles!!! I also like to play tug-o-war on occasion or will play with a squeaky toy. We also have deer antlers to chew on! I really LOVE those as well!!! I am somewhat dog selective and need slow intros with other dogs. I tend to be a little reactive and do not like dogs I don't know being all crazy and in my face. I do better with non-reactive submissive dogs. Even though I need time to warm up to dogs, I really need to have a fur brother to be with and play with as I don't like to be alone. So my new family will need to understand that I need slow intros with other dogs and need to watch me closely to make sure I continue to behave. My new family will also need to be patient with me in the beginning as I'm not a big fan of change/new things. Oh and I am kid friendly. I especially love the little ones, they are the perfect height for giving kisses. I am really the sweetest little girl. So, if you're looking for a sweet lap dog to play with your submissive male and give you lots of kisses and don't mind snoring, then I'm your girl! But, If you're looking for a dog park dog, an only dog, a dog to take everywhere with you or have lots of playdates, please check out the other fabulous fosters on the available page. Let my foster mom know if you would like to know more about me, or would like to meet me. Lots of boxer nub wiggles and kisses!     Well hello there, my name is Winston. It's a pleasure to meet you! I'm a big ol' teddy bear looking for his forever family after my first one decided they didn't want me anymore. I'm a happy go-with-the-flow kind a guy though, so I'm perfectly content to be just about anywhere as long as I have people who love me. I'm a good guard dog and take my responsibility very seriously, I always make sure you know when someone is at the door and when the mailman comes to drop off any goodies for you. There might be something in there for me, you know! I've always lived with other dogs and get along great with everyone. I used to live with kids ... (Read More)too, my whole face lights up when I see them. I would do better with kids that are a little bit older, you see I'm a bigger boy and might knock the little ones over, but I mean no harm! I like to think I'm full of marshmallow fluff because I'm as sweet as they come. I love to play with toys and fetch like a champ, so if you have some older kiddos I'd love to romp around the backyard with them. I'm about 7 years young, so I know how to potty outside, stay in my crate while you're gone, and I will even sit and shake for a treat! I know, I know... I'm a pretty fun guy! So you think you might want to have me join your family? I'd love that! Just let my foster dad know and I'll be over in a jiffy. It's a date!
