Boxer    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi! My name is Seca. I am 1 year old and full of energy! My foster parents say I need a lot of space to run because when I get bored I go out the dog door and do boxer burns to run off some of my energy. I love playing with toys so I will need a lot of those around to keep me occupied. Squeaky tennis balls are my favorite! I like to play in the yard with my foster sister but mom says we play really rough. I do have some separation anxiety so I need someone to be home with me most of the time. I have successfully stayed in the crate for about 3 hours with no issues as long as the TV was left on for me. Any longer and I try to escape! I have ... (Read More)destroyed a crate pan and popped the door of my crate in trying to get out. I did get mad at my foster sister a couple of times when she got too close to my food, but mom feeds us in separate rooms now and we have not had any more issues. We even get treats when we're sitting right next to each with no problems. I love my foster sister and can't imagine being in a home without someone to play with all day. I have a lot of love to give and love getting attention from my foster family. I am ready to settle down in my forever home. Changing homes so often is not fun.     'Hi there, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Keisel and I became a Legacy dog in July......... best day ever. I now have foster siblings to play with, and they are showing me the ropes, I didn't really know how to play with toys, yet alone other dogs, it's really fun. I have also learned to sit, and shake hands, and my mom says I walk well on the leash. I'm very gentle at taking treats,it's important to be polite, I also like to give hugs, but mom says not everyone likes that, so I'm doing my best to just sit and look handsome, she says I've got that mastered. I am crate trained, but I'll be honest, it's not my favorite place, so ... (Read More)I'm looking for a home where I don't have to spend a lot of time in a crate. I have a favorite spot on the couch, where I like to hang out, if I'm not playing with my foster siblings , we have lots of fun together. I'm not quite ready for my forever home yet, as I have some skin issues that are healing and getting better everyday, as soon as my skin is all better and all my hair has come in, I have to have something called ''the snip'' done, mom says it's what good boys do. Check back around September for more updates, or if you'd like more info about me, or another Legacy dog searching for their forever home, check with your AC. In the meantime, I'm taking my spot on the couch and getting ready for football season.'     'Thank you for stopping by. My name is Ikaika (E-k+eye-K+A), which is Hawaiian for strong man. I have had a bit of a trough life before I came to LBR. I have not told all of the details to my foster Mommy but she can tell it was not the best of life. I was an outside dog and I did not have that much attention paid to me. It is a shame because I LOVE people and to share my sweet boxer kisses. I have a few things I need to go through, neuter and heartworm treatment, before I will be ready to head to my forever home. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

'Winchester checking in here. My foster mom refers to me as 'Six Bees' or 'Big Beautiful Blind Brindle Boxer Boy'. That's right. I am blind, but that has not stopped me from being a loving and sweet Boxer boy nor has it prevented me from meeting a stranger or caused me to be afraid of other dogs. I may bump into a few things here and there, but I will know your exact location by zooming in on your voice and scent. The doctor said I have been blind since birth. I get around my environment well and can see some light. I do know some commands like come, sit, stay, go outside, chow time and car ride. Oh yes, how I LOVE to ride in the car. ... (Read More)I do need some assistance getting in and out because I cannot judge the distance. I also love to go for walks to take in all the different smells out there. I am leash trained and my foster mom says I am a gentleman and do not pull her down the street. I must mention my love for ice cream, peanut butter and yogurt mixed with pumpkin. And I cannot forget ice water! I do not beg at the table. I currently live with my fur brother who loves to play and he is sharing his toys with me. I am also crate and housetrained. I adore being with my people. I am kid friendly and love everyone I meet. I am not sure about cats, but there is a bunny in our yard named Skippy who smells pretty good. Unfortunately, I am heartworm positive so I will be going through heartworm treatment soon to get rid of those yucky monsters. Please check back later. My foster mom will update my page soon. Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

'Hello potential future families! My name is Taco (I was told I was named after the Dallas Cowboys first round draft pick, but I certainly love to eat tacos too), I was brought into the legacy boxer family after I was founded wandering the small town of Wichita Falls, TX. The shelter was full (I meant it is a super small shelter). Thank goodness LBR found me. I was severely underweight and had to undergo a procedure to remove some red lumps. After further testing they determined that it was skin cancer. Although, they got it all; my foster mom said that I will have to wear sun screen in the future if I am going to be on outside adventerous ... (Read More)with my future family. My foster mom points out some scarring on my body; I don't remember much about my days on the street but I am sure it was from other animals. Good thing I don't remember becuase then I might be afraid of other dogs that want to be my friend! I live with another male boxer (he is also in the program), we got into a little scuffle in the begining but we have found a balance! Just so y'all know up front, I LOVE to give gentle boxrer hugs, sleep pretty much right on top of you (the humans call that cuddling, I think). I can be outside free to roam or in my crate; I am fine either way. I had a few ''ooops I shouldn't mark'' here moments in the begining but never major accidents, I prefer to do my business outside. When I am walking on my leash; I hear the humans say what a good job I do! I think my future family has to be okay with me being a BIG boy and teach my ''personal'' boundaries. I need a family that is going to love me forever and never forget my sunscreen! I hope you are out there and look forward to meeting you! Thanks for swinging by!     ' Hi! I'm Jazznie! I'm a 49 lb 6 year old dainty little girl and full of spunk. Most of the time I'm a cuddle bug, but there are times I just want to be by myself. My mom says that shows I'm an independent lady. I'm not big on playing with toys, but I do have one toy that I'm getting attached to. I love to play with my fur brothers and run in the back yard. I like to sleep in a chair or on the sofa, and of course I love to sleep in the bed with my foster mom when I can talk her into it. I will sleep in my crate if I have to, but I do not like it! I only have to stay in my crate now when we're home alone. I can even be trusted at night. Mom ... (Read More)says I do need to learn better leash manners though. So, we're working on that. When I need to go out to do my business, I lightly paw at the door. Mom says I'm really smart too. I can sit, lay, and shake. I'd like for someone to teach me more tricks. I can really jump too when I'm excited (but I don't jump on people). I like little kids too, but if they don't like me l leave them alone. Riding in the car is fun. I like to ride shotgun and pay attention to the traffic. If you think I'm a good fit for you please let us know. I'll be happy to meet you.'     Hi Everyone! I'm just checking in to let you know I've settled in nicely in my foster home. Everyone here says I'm an absolute angel. I've not had any accidents in the house, I get along great with my kitty sister. I have one fur sister and we get along fine as long as she stays off my bed. She has her own after all! I don't mind sharing toys and I'm a very calm, sweet boy. I like to take short walks, (it's awfully hot out for me) and I'm a perfect gentleman on a leash.     'Ladies and Gentlemen, I am The Baron, a 6-year-old handsome bundle of love just waiting for my furever home! Here are my thoughts on why you should let me adopt you. A Little Bit About Me: I have lived my whole life with one family which included skin brothers aged 10 and 2 years old so I am good with children. I have a fierce bark but when I meet you and have given you Boxer kisses, I will immediately become your BFF. I go to the door to be let outside when I need to do my business. I love spending time outdoors and laying in the sunshine, but I do want my people close by. I love riding in the car and going on walks. I am, however, ... (Read More)working on my leash manners. Have I mentioned to you about my love affair with a blue pig? My foster mom got me one and for hours, I made that silly pig oink almost constantly. Foster mom had to turn up the TV volume because I was so loud with it. She finally had to put my sweet piggy to bed so everyone could get some rest, including me. Oh, and by the way, I am a certified brush hog. My Best Traits: I do not get on furniture even though it begins with the letters 'f-u-r'. I do not dig in the yard or try to escape. I do not beg at the table while my people are eating. The only human foods that I have been offered are a Blue Bell vanilla ice cream cup and peanut butter, and boy howdy, do I love them both! I eat twice daily and love, love, love ice cubes in my water. I know sit, stay, down, lay down, crate up, go potty, treat, chow time and get some water. Speaking of crates, I was crated for the first 3 years of my life when my family was out for the day. For the last 4 years, I have had the run of the house. My foster mom is currently teaching me Crate 101 because I have exhibited some anxiety when she puts me in it. I am getting better but I really prefer to be with my people. And honestly, why would anyone not want me to be with them? I am currently recovering from that dreaded experience of losing a body part. I am heart worm positive but will be undergoing treatment for those nasty things so check back with me soon as my foster mom updates my page. So you see, it is obvious that I am the dog you have been looking for. I am a loving, relaxed and a VERY smart Boxer boy. Oh, and did I mention that my foster mom says I am the sweetest, most handsome Boxer ever???     'Hershey Kiss is a small, young boxer girl, weighing in at about 46 lbs. She is great with other dogs, and due to her crate anxiety, we feel it's best if she is adopted by a family with another male to keep her company. She is very high energy, and we are working on basic manners. She is jumpy when she first meets new people, which is why I have her listed as good with older children, but she may do great with younger kids if they're dog savvy and willing to put up with her exuberance level, she is in no way aggressive, just exuberant. Hershey Kiss will be going through treatment for heartworms in the next week and will be ready for ... (Read More)adoption mid August. Animal ID: 17229Eisenhower, Adopt Pend (male)

Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

' On D-Day, 2017, a small army of Legacy Boxer Rescue volunteers set out on a rescue mission to save a boxer on death row in a local shelter. Meet Eisenhower! This wonderful boy is a veteran back-yard dog who is now safe and comfortable in his foster home. Eisenhower, AKA Howie Wowie, is an amazingly calm boy for being only four years old. After a couple of days to decompress from his battle (shelter) trauma, Eisenhower's sweet personality came shining through. He is such a smart boy! It only took a couple of days for him to catch on to house-breaking, and just a few minutes to figure out the dog door. Crate training only took a few days. ... (Read More)He is a one smart boy and so eager to please. He has blossomed into a happy, fun boxer in just a few days. Eisenhower is on the small side for a male boxer but he has enough boxer wiggles and tail wags for a boxer twice his size. Howie has graduated to being left out all night long with no accidents or problems. He loves having a dog door and being able to go outside (and come back inside) whenever he wants. Howie does not like to get his feet wet and hates going outside when it's raining. He is a quiet boy, who seldom barks. Howie is good with other dogs and is learning to play and run with his foster siblings; he would be good as an only dog or with a companion dog. He does not jump on people, sits calmly for petting and takes treats gently. Howie will pull a little on a leash at first, but relaxes after a few minutes. With a little more leash work and a few more car rides to help him understand that not all car rides end at the shelter, Eisenhower will be just about perfect. His foster mom's favorite moment of the day is calling Howie inside to and watching a happy boxer run full tilt to come sit and get a treat. Spend 5 minutes with Howie and you'll fall in love!     'Bell is a sweet young female that loves to play fetch as long as you throw the ball. She gives lots of kisses and loves to cuddle. She needs to be an only dog, as she becomes food and toy aggressive with other dogs. Because of this it's recommended that she go to a home without young children. I'm a very smart girl and I know how to sit, shake, and leave it. I love to be right beside my humans and sometimes lay on them, I'm 63 lbs of pure love. I love pulling toys from the toy box just to mix things up. I love going on walks and I enjoy running around in the back yard. I love shadowing my humans when we are in the house, because I am a ... (Read More)part of your family. I stay in the crate during the days when my foster parents are at work. I'm not a big fan but I'll do it for them. I'd really love someone that could stay home all the time with me, as I love getting lots of attention from my humans and I love getting good ear rubs. I'm 11 months old, so I'm still learning, but I pick up quickly. I need clear boundaries, so I can be the best dog for you. I do an amazing boxer wiggle, and I'm house trained by hitting my bells hanging on the back door. We are continuing to let her settle in and decompress so we can make sure we can find her a great forever home.     'Sweetheart Madeline is sweet as can be and a gentle soul, once you get to know her. Unfortunately, she had a rough road getting here and is still very slow to warm up to new people and surroundings. Give her a bit of time, and the wiggle butt is fully active! She loves to be with her people and enjoys being with her foster fur siblings, also. Squeaky toys always get her attention and she enjoys de-stuffing stuffed animals periodically, too :) Madeline is looking for a family that will love her, with her quirks. Unexpected movements and noises, including cars, make her skittish. She does bark at some characters on TV and when dogs ... (Read More)bark on the TV or computer. In spite of needing to fatten up this skinny girl, she is a picky eater. Adding a tiny bit of chicken, cheese or bread helps to keep her eating, or adding canned food to the dry. She is an escape artist, knowing how to open up some gate designs: she did it in the shelter and in her foster home, once. Openings in the lower areas of the fence will need to be checked for this girl;) If you'd like a couch buddy who is always happy to see you, check out this amazing girl!' Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

'Hi everybody in LBR land, I'm Kramer. I have been relaxing here with my foster family and thought I should get around to telling y'all about myself. I am a 3 years old fawn male with a black mask, a bit of flash on my underside and toes, and I weigh in at 67 lbs. I am very affectionate and do love to cuddle or rest my head on your lap. I am very friendly to all the people I meet and my two fur brothers with whom I share my foster family. I'm not big on jumping or barking, although I can do both, but I am a licker extraordinaire. Some say my tongue is a foot long. I am just as happy to lay in my crate as I am to settle into the recliner. ... (Read More)You can find me just as likely to be in the crate, on the recliner, on a dog couch or dog bed. So, it may go without saying, I am crate and house trained. These days, at night, I sleep outside the unlocked crate but within my family's gated dog room. I am fine when they go to bed and don't whine or bark when they leave me to go to bed and sleep. I am a little sensitive to thunder storms but make my way through them reasonably well. I have started some training and I have gotten pretty good at 'sit', 'down' and 'stay'. I am a bit of a chow hound so my foster father is using 'stay' while he fills my dog bowl and 'eat' to tell me to go for it. I'm getting better but not yet perfect. I also eat out of a round maze bowl to help me slow down while I eat. Other than when I eat I am a rather calm fellow but I do enjoy a little playtime when allowed. I like furry toys mostly but will experiment with other toys. I enjoy a boxer burn or two but have always stopped after two, so far. I am heartworm negative but I do have a heart condition that we can talk about in more detail if you are interested in meeting me. That being said, if y'all would like to meet up why don't you have your LBR people call my LBR people and we'll see what we can wrangle up. Until then, hasta la vista amigos.     'Hi guys my name is Damon. My foster parents tell me that they named me after a pretty awesome guy, so I was cool with them changing it. Now I know what you're thinking ''He doesn't look like a boxer!!'' Technically I'm an English Bulldog but my sister was a boxer and my previous family needed to find us both a home so the nice people at LBR decided I could be an honorary boxer. Since they told me that I've started working on a kidney bean greeting to people and a butt wiggle like my sister use to do. Unfortunately my frame wasn't built for either of those two things so you'll just have to be happy with my adorable squishy face. I lived ... (Read More)the last few years outside and my foster parents tell me that being a Bulldog outside was the worst place for me. Right now I have a few medical issues that my foster parents are trying to get under control. Apparently all these wrinkles and living outside weren't good for me. They also tell me that I have a few typical Bulldog behavioral issues that need to be corrected before I'll be ready for adoption. My foster dad has nick named me Sir-Humps-A Lot but I'm not sure why. He tells me that most people don't like to be greeted that way. My foster parents tell me that I'll probably be ready to start looking for a forever family sometime around April if they can get my medical issues under control so keep checking back if you'd like to meet me. My foster parents say that they'd really prefer my forever family to have previous Bulldog experience because a typical boxer family won't like all my shenanigans. Whatever they're taking about.'     'This pretty girl has a new name to go with her new life. Meet Fritzi! She's a sweet 3 - 4 year old boxer girl that somehow found herself in the shelter. She has been to the vet and had her checkup. She is now spayed (no more puppies) and heartworm negative - Yay! Her foster parents have already learned that she's dog friendly and that she LOVES people. She follows them wherever they go, being sure to stick close and watch everything that they do. She doesn't seem to know any commands, but she's a smart girl and will learn quickly. She needs to gain some weight and when she does, she'll be on the medium to large size. Probably in ... (Read More)the 60 - 65 lb range. She's already put on a few pounds and weighs in at 61 lbs. During her vet visit, the vet found a small lump and removed it. There were some mast cells present, but it was a grade 1 with good margins, which is the best possible news. She's on benadryl twice a day for 6 weeks. As with ALL boxers, any lump or bump will need to be looked at by the vet. Fritzi is not a fan of cats, so absolutely no cats in her new home. Fritzi's favorite thing to do is to be upside down. If you have the time and a spare hand, she's always willing to go belly up for a good belly rub. She is fully vetted and ready for her forever home. Fritzi is good with other dogs as long as they are calm and laid back. She prefers to be the boss, so her doggy friends need to be submissive and let her be the Queen of the castle. 12/31/2016 UPDATE: Fritzi will be available for adoption in August or September of 2017. We recently learned that she has two torn ACL's and will require two separate surgeries to repair the damage. Each surgery has a 12 -16 week recovery time. Please check back for updates.' UPDATE 7/16/17: Fritzi will be available for adoption in November or December of 2017. She will be undergoing her second TPLO surgery in August and will need a 12 -16 week recovery time.
